Character Sheet: All Johto Standalones

SUDOWOODO/AIPOM/YANMA/MURKROW/MISDREAVUS/UNOWN/WOBBUFFET/GIRAFARIG/DUNSPARCE/GLIGAR/QWILFISH/SHUCKLE/HERACROSS/SNEASEL/CORSOLA/DELIBIRD/MANTINE/SKARMORY/STANTLER/SMEARGLE/MILTANK

And now, we come to twenty-one different Pokemon introduced in Gen II that, at the time, had no additional evolutions. First up, we have Sudowoodo, sort of a new Snorlax in that it pretends to be a tree blocking your path, and you have to figure out the proper way to get past it. Spoiler alert, it's a rock that's only pretending to be a tree.

Standard B: Stone Edge

Side B: Sucker Punch

Up B: Rock Slide

Down B: Mimic

Final Smash: Forest of False Trees

Next up is Aipom, a goofy little monkey with a hand on its tail, based on most monkeys having prehensile tails. It would later gain an evolution in Ambipom.

Standard B: Fury Swipes

Side B: Tail Whip

Up B: Agility

Down B: Baton Pass

Final Smash: Monkey Business

Next, we have Yanma, a dragonfly that is . . . pretty much just a dragonfly. It also gains a new evo later on in Gen IV.

Standard B: Bug Bite

Side B: Supersonic

Up B: Air Cutter

Down B: Hypnosis

Final Smash: Dragonfly Swarm

Then, we have Murkrow, the first Dark type ever introduced that wasn't a new Evo (preceded by one space only by Umbreon). It is basically just a crow, but wearing a gangster's fedora.

Standard B: Peck

Side B: Sucker Punch

Up B: Wing Attack

Down B: Assurance

Final Smash: Murder of Murkrows

After that, we have the one and only Ghost type of the generation, Misdreavus, based on a banshee and possibly a Nukekubi. It would gain a later evolution and a Paradox form.

Standard B: Shadow Ball

Side B: Hex

Up B: Astonish

Down B: Confusion

Final Smash: Perish Song

And now we come to the Unowns, a practically legendary Pokemon for their roles in the game story, but in practice, well, there's hundreds of them, and they're all basically useless. They are based on ancient runes and symbols, and they are shaped to resemble the letters of the Latin alphabet. All they ever learn is the move Hidden Power, so instead of playable, they will be a Poke Ball Pokemon. When they come out, a swarm of them will fly across the stage, doing minimal damage with every individual hit.

Next up is Wobbuffet, famous for its role in the anime as a staple of Team Rocket's team after Meowth. It is based on a punching bag, with all of its moves being counters of some form.

Standard B: Counter

Side B: Mirror Coat

Up B: Charm

Down B: Amnesia

Final Smash: Destiny Bond

Then, we have Girafarig, originally designed to be a giraffe with two of the same head, one in front and one in back, like a Pushme-Pullyu or Catdog. That second head was redesigned to be just a little Chain Chomp-looking tail but the basic concept it still sort of there.

Standard B: Psybeam

Side B: Stomp

Up B: Power Swap

Down B: Confusion

Final Smash: Twin Psychic Attack

Next is Dunsparce, based on the Tsuchinoko cryptid of Japanese folklore. It's mostly just kind of a useless little snake thing that looks like a bee, but it's charming in its own right.

Standard B: Ancient Power

Side B: Drill Run

Up B: Flail

Down B: Yawn

Final Smash: Dragon Rush

Then we have Gligar, a mix between a gargoyle, a bat, and a scorpionfly, that is Ground/Flying type for some reason. It would go on to gain a further evolution in Gen IV.

Standard B: Poison Sting

Side B: Slash

Up B: Acrobatics

Down B: Poison Tail

Final Smash: Death from Above

After that, we have Qwilfish, based on a puffer fish, complete with its unique brand of Poison. It's later Hisuian form would expand on that further.

Standard B: Poison Sting

Side B: Brine

Up B: Inflate (not really a move, but like . . . you get it, right?)

Down B: Spikes

Final Smash: Acupressure

Next comes Shuckle, that wierd little thing that nobody really knows what exactly it is. My best guess is a little worm living inside a clay pot. It would at least explain both typings, and the whole berry juice thing.

Standard B: Gastro Acid

Side B: Rollout

Up B: Shell Smash

Down B: Withdraw

Final Smash: Berry Juice Flood

Next up is Heracross, based on a Hercules beetle, specifically the type used in beetle fighting in Japan. It would later gain a Mega form in Gen VI.

Standard B: Megahorn

Side B: Arm Thrust

Up B: Aerial Ace

Down B: Counter

Final Smash: Mega Heracross

After that, we have Sneasel, based on the Kamaitachi, a weasel yokai that supposedly lives up on snowy mountains, racing around at high speed and slashing people's legs, based on a real life phenomenon apparently where people will find strange cuts on their legs after being out in a blizzard.

Standard B: Fury Swipes

Side B: Quick Attack

Up B: Icy Wind

Down B: Beat Up

Final Smash: Slashes in a Blizzard

Next, we have Corsola, based on a patch of coral. It would later gain a Galarian form based on the unfortunate dying out of coral from global warming.

Standard B: Water Gun

Side B: Ancient Power

Up B: Earth Power

Down B: Harden

Final Smash: Great Barrier Reef

Now, we come to Delibird, a penguin mixed with Santa Claus, carrying around a bag of presents. By learnset, it only ever learns Present, and as of recently, Drill Peck. Like Abra, it is relatively receptive to TMs, but I'd rather stick to the spirit of the Mon, and keep it a Poke Ball Pokemon, where it runs around the stage and tosses out items.

After that, we have Mantine, a manta ray mixed with a kite, with a little Remoraid hanging from its fin. It would eventually gain a baby form in Gen IV.

Standard B: Water Gun

Side B: Supersonic

Up B: Air Slash

Down B: Bounce

Final Smash: Mega Bounce

Next is Skarmory, a bird entirely coated in metal with razor sharp wings. It may pull some inspiration from the Stymphalian birds of Greek mythology.

Standard B: Drill Peck

Side B: Slash

Up B: Steel Wing

Down B: Metal Claw

Final Smash: Brave Bird

Now, we come to Stantler, which is . . . basically just a deer. It does get a bit of a boost in Legends: Arceus when it gains a new evolution in Wyrdeer.

Standard B: Hypnosis

Side B: Stomp

Up B: Take Down

Down B: Confuse Ray

Final Smash: Stampede

And then we have Smeargle, a beagle mixed with a painter. It is a bit in the same camp as Ditto, where it has only one move, Sketch, but that one move allows it to be able to copy the last move it sees, making it more than capable of being playable. Basically, all four Special Move commands would be sketch until pressed in a battle. Sketch would then copy the last move used by any opponent, allowing the player to basically build a moveset for Smeargle as they play.

And finally, we come to Miltank, the notorious demon of the Goldenrod City gym. Miltank is based on a milk cow, and is, more or less, just that. It's just . . . a very frustrating little creature to deal with.

Standard B: Headbutt

Side B: Rollout

Up B: Milk Drink

Down B: Defense Curl

Final Smash: Rollout Stampede

And that's about it. From there, Entrances would all be Poke Balls, Taunts would be tailored to each as fitting (Smeargle could sketch a happy little tree), Kirby hats would be based on each (mostly whatever's on their heads or so), the karts would all be Poke Ball cars unless they can fly or otherwise move fast on their own, with their moves being their most iconic move listed. The spirit battles would be on one of the seven Johto stages I've listed, the victory poses would all be tailored to them, the losing poses would just be fainting, and the color swaps would be the mains, shinies, and other fitting colors.

Now, let's move on to the new evos. Up first, Crobat flaps in the night.
