Pokemon Ranger

POKEMON RANGER

Pokemon Ranger is another popular spinoff series of Pokemon. In Mystery Dungeon, it was Pokemon without humans, and this time it's humans without Pokemon. Well, technically, without "catching" Pokemon. You technically just tame and befriend Pokemon running wild, and then they will hang around and help you out one time before skedaddling. Except for one partner Pokemon who sticks by you throughout the whole game. The game is very much a "to show off the console gimmick" game, much like the Wario Ware's tend to be, with the wrangling mechanic done by you drawing circles around the wild Pokemon with your stylus.

The game follows the player, Lunick or Solana, depending on gender, who has just been recruited as a new up-and-coming Pokemon Ranger, who are kinda like police/animal control/service workers, in the Fiore region. As a Ranger, you are given a command styler, which is basically your stylus to wrangle Pokemon. You also gain a Pokemon partner, Plusle for Lunick, Minun for Solana, who follows you around. While wrangling, you can use a Poke Assist, adding one of your ally Pokemon's power to the mix, and outside of battle, you can use one of your wrangled allies to perform various tasks (Water Pokemon putting out fires, strong Pokemon breaking rocks, things like that). The opposite gender player acts as a supporting character in the story who frequently works alongside you.

Notable supporting rangers working alongside you include Professor Hastings (basically the Professor Oak of the Ranger games), Spenser (who recruited you), Murph, Joel, Aria, Keith, Lind, Cameron, Percy, Leilani, Elita, Chris, and Freddie. All have more or less the same training as you, so could at least be color swaps. Your villains are the Go-Rock Squad, striving to create a super styler that fully overrides a Pokemon's will and turns them into mindless slaves. Gordor is the leader, and the Go-Rock Quads are a rock band who act as the main henchmen. Outside of using the Super-Styler, their abilities are about the same.

Fiore is the region where the game takes place, with four notable cities being Fall City, Ringtown, Summerland, and Wintown, and other notable locations including Krokka Tunnel, Sekra Range, East Road, North Road, Fiore Temple, Jungle Relic, Kisara Plain, Lyra Forest, Dusk Factory, Olive Jungle, Panula Cave, Safra Sea, the Go-Rock Base, and Waterworks.

Here's what we've got:

Characters:

All new Pokemon

Wes (& Rui?)/Michael (maybe an echo for Wes & Rui): Pokemon, snagging, vehicle, Rui's sight, purification

Lucy Fleetfoot: Trozei Beamer, shift columns and rows, leap

Baron Phobos: maybe echo, orbs, dark

Pokemon Ranger (all listed): capture styler, Poke Assist, Outside Attack

Go-Rock Squad: Possible echo of Pokemon Ranger. (The other games have different villain groups, so I may have to work it out).

Thanks for reading! And now, we come to the end of Gen III's main games. It is now time to cover all the little games that didn't warrant a full post.
