MARIO PINBALL LAND

Mario Pinball Land is a pinball game set in the Mushroom Kingdom, where Peach has been turned into a ball and captured by Bowser, forcing Mario to turn himself into a ball to go and save her. The gameplay isn't a lot for our purposes (after all, the ball in a pinball game doesn't typically have moves per se), so most of the controls revolve around flicking the flippers at just the right time to send Mario rolling where you want him to go.

Toad appears in the game, running a shop, while Goombas, Koopas, Boos, Shy Guys, Cheep Cheeps, Bob-Ombs, Lakitus and Spinies, Pokeys, Chain Chomps, Monty Moles, Penguins, Albatosses, and even Koopatrols from the Paper Mario games appear here, but mostly just in obstacle roles. Bowser acts as the final boss, while Petey Piranha, Big Boo, Porcupuffer, and . . . Tutankoopa from Paper Mario? (Somebody in the development staff really liked Paper Mario apparently) all act as bosses, but are likewise fairly simple. (Can't get too complicated when your protagonist is a rolling ball, I suppose).

Outside of Pinball Land, the setting of the start of the game's story mode, the various levels include: The Fun Fair, set in the fairgrounds of Pinball Land; Frosty Frontier, an ice stage; Grassy Greens, set on a farm; Shifting Sands, a desert area; and Fiery Stage, your go-to Bowser Castle.
