Queen Oren

QUEEN OREN

When Link visits the Zoras of Hyrule, he discovers that their queen has been mutated into a monstrous form by the theft of a special stone. Upon retrieving the stone, she returns to her true state.

Queen Oren is Link Between Worlds’ Zora representative, later abducted by Yuga and revealed to be one of the seven sages.

As a fighter, she will act as an echo of her fellow Zora royal, Mipha, but with much more power and much less grace behind her moves.

Likelihood rating: Never gonna happen.

Rosso

ROSSO

North of Hyrule, Link encounters a Goron working in a mine who provides him with the Power Glove.

This is Rosso, our representative Goron character this time around, and eventually revealed to be yet another of the seven sages.

As a fighter, Rosso will function as an echo of fellow Goron and mine worker Yunobo from Breath of the Wild. He will hit a little harder with much more durability from his years of experience.

Likelihood rating: Never gonna happen.

Irene

IRENE

As Link wanders around Hyrule, he will eventually cross paths with a little witch, the apprentice of a much older sorceress strongly implied to be Maple of the Oracles games.

This is Irene. She will provide you the service of letting you fast-travel around the map on her broom, until she ends up captured by Yuga as well and becomes another of the seven sages, at which point her broom provides the service on its own.

As a fighter, Irene will be an echo of Maple, with her moves pulling from the same pool Maple pulls from, with slightly different stats to vary the master and pupil.

Likelihood rating: Never gonna happen.

Osfala

OSFALA

As Link sets out on his journey under the guidance of the wise sage Sahasrahla, he is directed to see out the sage’s apprentice.

This apprentice is Osfala. He would prove a great help in your journey before ultimately being captured by Yuga as well, turning out to be another of the seven sages.

As a fighter, Osfala would be an echo of his master, with all him moves pulling from Sahasrahla’s, except younger and spryer in his movements.

Likelihood rating: Probably not.

Gulley

GULLEY

A Link Between Worlds opens with Link asleep in his bed, late for work at the local blacksmith shop. His boss and father figure, said blacksmith, will send his young son to go and wake him.

This is Gulley, your standard tagalong kid archetype. At one point, he goes missing in the game, prompting Link to go and search for him, only to find he has been taken by Yuga and transformed into a painting. He is revealed to be one of the game’s seven sages.

As a fighter, Gulley will be fast and full of energy, but without a whole lot of strength behind him. His moveset will pull from his own actions in the game, as well as elements borrowed from his father, the blacksmith.

Likelihood rating: Probably not.

Character Sheet: Queen Oren

QUEEN OREN

And here's all the characters that I gave a definitive YES to during my second chance round. They are:

1.       Fierce Deity Link

2.       Kalin

3.       Darbus

4.       Ralis

5.       Gulley

6.       Osfala

7.       Irene

8.       Rosso

9.       Queen Oren

10.   Paya

11.   Rune

12.   Kanan

13.   Talon

14.   Ingo

15.   Gwonam

16.   Tetra’s Crew

17.   Kokiri

18.   Goron

19.   Zora

20.   Rito

21.   Korok

22.   Gerudo

23.   Stalchildren

24.   Ganon Blight

Well, that resulted was to be expected, but I didn't want to just assign her to Mipha on account of matching gender alone, so I ran with the poll there too. Queen Oren is the leader of the Zoras and one of the sages in Link Between Worlds, and is a sort of middle ground between the monstrous Zoras of the old games and the newer "prettier" Zoras of more recent games.

Here is her moveset:

Standard B: Water Orb

Possibly almost spit like one of the Older Zoras.

Side B: Trident Stab

Up B: Water Spout

With animation like her game.

Down B: Rain Bomb

Also spit by her.

Final Smash: Sage of Water

Similar to the others, she will use his sage powers.

Entrance: She will rise from beneath a waterfall.

Taunts: Up, she will rise and spin happily. Side, she will hold out her hands and cause water spouts to set off. Down, she will dive down then back up again.

Kirby Hat: Her crown thing.

Kart: Based on her monstrous form.

Special Move: She will place an "Old Zora" on the track, that will occasionally pop up from the road and spit a fireball at players.

Spirit Battle: On Lorule Castle, with water.

Victory Screen: She will relax on her throne, surrounded by servants.

Losing Screen: Her portrait will hang in Lorule Castle.

Color Swaps: Her normal green, a blue like Ocarina Zoras, a monstrous face like the Old Zoras, a red like the Wild Zoras, that grayish color from Twilight Princess, a pink color, a black color, a pure white color.

Thanks for reading! Up next, Paya inherits her family legacy!

Character Sheet: Rosso

ROSSO

And here's all the characters that I gave a definitive YES to during my second chance round. They are:

1.       Fierce Deity Link

2.       Kalin

3.       Darbus

4.       Ralis

5.       Gulley

6.       Osfala

7.       Irene

8.       Rosso

9.       Queen Oren

10.   Paya

11.   Rune

12.   Kanan

13.   Talon

14.   Ingo

15.   Gwonam

16.   Tetra’s Crew

17.   Kokiri

18.   Goron

19.   Zora

20.   Rito

21.   Korok

22.   Gerudo

23.   Stalchildren

24.   Ganon Blight

As of my last checking, the poll was split fifty-fifty, so I'm going with my gut instinct. Yunobo, it is! Rosso is the main Goron character appearing in Link Between Worlds, a miner who turns out to be one of the seven sages.

Here is his moveset:

Standard B: Rocket Fist

Probably a little stronger as he appears older.

Side B: Double Slap

Also with a bit more punch to it.

Up B: Goron Cannon

Probably do something like a mineshaft instead of a cannon.

Down B: Rock Roast

It will be a chunk of ore he digs out of his mine.

Final Smash: Sage of Fire

Similar to the others, he will use his sage powers.

Entrance: He will work in his mine, wipe his forehead, and turn around.

Taunts: Up, he will raise a lantern and look around. Side, he will pick at some rock with his pickax. Down, he will sit and rest against a minecart.

Kirby Hat: His funky topknot thing.

Kart: A minecart from this game.

Special Move: He will use his axe to pick at the road beneath him and unearth a few coins.

Spirit Battle: On Lorule Castle.

Victory Screen: He will look over a minecart full of rupees.

Losing Screen: His portrait will hang in Lorule Castle.

Color Swaps: Red hair, blue hair, black hair, green hair, white hair, yellow hair, purple hair, brown hair.

Thanks for reading! Up next, Queen Oren makes a splash.

Character Sheet: Irene

IRENE

And here's all the characters that I gave a definitive YES to during my second chance round. They are:

1.       Fierce Deity Link

2.       Kalin

3.       Darbus

4.       Ralis

5.       Gulley

6.       Osfala

7.       Irene

8.       Rosso

9.       Queen Oren

10.   Paya

11.   Rune

12.   Kanan

13.   Talon

14.   Ingo

15.   Gwonam

16.   Tetra’s Crew

17.   Kokiri

18.   Goron

19.   Zora

20.   Rito

21.   Korok

22.   Gerudo

23.   Stalchildren

24.   Ganon Blight

Next up is Irene, the apprentice of Maple from the Oracles games, who kinda takes over her role in Link Between Worlds, but more just acts as Link's fast-travel service, until the time she becomes a sage, at which point, her broom takes up the same role on its own. Either way, she can be an echo for Maple just the same.

Here is her moveset:

Standard B: Cushion Spell

Same, but probably with a cushion based on the game's artwork style.

Side B: Crash

Same, maybe a little lighter on the impact.

Up B: Broom

Same. Maybe a bit more longevity to the move.

Down B: Potion

Same. Maybe not as effective.

Final Smash: Army of Monsters

She could do that again or she could do something more directly sage-related.

Entrance: She will race in and crash for a second.

Taunts: Up, she will sit on her broom and wave at the camera. Side, she will loop back and forth on her broom for a second. Down, she will brush off her skirt.

Kirby Hat: Her hat.

Kart: Her broom.

Special Move: She will be able to carry herself and one other racer to a new location.

Spirit Battle: On Lorule Castle, with Maple.

Victory Screen: She will loop around happily and narrowly avoid crashing for a second, looking embarrassed but happy.

Losing Screen: Her portrait will hang in Lorule Castle.

Color Swaps: All based on Maple's colors.

Thanks for reading! Up next, Rosso digs deep.

Character Sheet: Osfala

OSFALA

And here's all the characters that I gave a definitive YES to during my second chance round. They are:

1.       Fierce Deity Link

2.       Kalin

3.       Darbus

4.       Ralis

5.       Gulley

6.       Osfala

7.       Irene

8.       Rosso

9.       Queen Oren

10.   Paya

11.   Rune

12.   Kanan

13.   Talon

14.   Ingo

15.   Gwonam

16.   Tetra’s Crew

17.   Kokiri

18.   Goron

19.   Zora

20.   Rito

21.   Korok

22.   Gerudo

23.   Stalchildren

24.   Ganon Blight

Next up, we have Osfala, the apprentice of Link Between Worlds' Sahasrahla and later one of the seven sages. Why didn't I make him an echo of Sahasrahla before? Good question!

Here is his moveset:

Standard B: Magic Rod

We could give Sahasrahla the fire and Osfala the ice.

Side B: Cane of Somaria

We could also give him one of the other canes while we're at it.

Up B: Pegasus Boots

I imagine he'd fly a bit higher, Icarus to Daedalus-style.

Down B: Magic Cape

Likewise the cape might stay up for less time.

Final Smash: The Seven Sages

The other seven sages will appear around him, and all with combine their powers to unleash a powerful blast.

Entrance: He will be silently meditating.

Taunts: Up, he will pray and glow with light. Side, he will flip through a spellbook. Down, he will sit and meditate again.

Kirby Hat: His hair.

Kart: Based on the Eastern Palace's design.

Special Move: He will use the magic cape to protect himself from harm.

Spirit Battle: On Eastern Palace, with Sahasrahla

Victory Screen: He will focus his energy and raise a Triforce for a moment.

Losing Screen: His portrait will hang in Lorule Castle.

Color Swaps: All based on Sahasrahla's own colors.

Thanks for reading! Up next, Irene takes flight!

4.       Ralis

5.       Gulley

6.       Osfala

7.       Irene

8.       Rosso

20.   Rito

21.   Korok

22.   Gerudo

23.   Stalchildren

24.   Ganon Blight

Next up, we have one of our few completely original movesets in this list, Gulley. Gulley is a small boy from Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. He is the son of the blacksmith that Link works for and lives with, and goes missing early on, prompting Link to go and find him. He is later discovered to be one of the game's seven sages. Given that we have made "smith"-related movesets before, we know it is more than possible for him.

Here is his moveset:

Standard B: Hammer

He will smack forward with the hammer his father uses, striking sparks when he hits the ground.

Side B: Pouch

He will grab a projectile and stash it in the pouch he had been planning to give to Link.

Up B: Bellows

He will hold out his father's bellows and blow it at the ground, throwing him up a little bit.

Down B: Temper

He will bring out his father's forge and be able to temper any item he is holding so that it deals more damage or performs better the next time it is used.

Final Smash: Sage Power

His painting will appear at the back of the stage, and he will focus, bright light filling the stage and blasting players away.

Entrance: He will run around playfully for a second.

Taunts: Up, he will hop up and down excitedly. Side, he will play a tune on his flute. Down, he will try to lift his papa's hammer.

Kirby Hat: His hat and hair.

Kart: Based on his father's forge.

Special Move: He can temper items he just picked up to be more effective.

Spirit Battle: On Lorule Castle, with the other sages.

Victory Screen: He will run around excitedly and hug his mama and papa.

Losing Screen: His portrait will hang in Lorule Castle.

Color Swaps: His normal appearance, the Flute Boy from Link to the Past, a costume based on Rosso, Oren, Irene, and Osfala, his father, and his mother.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Osfala follows in his master's footsteps. (Oh my gosh, I forgot to do these).

Legend of Zelda Second Chance Round (Part I)

LEGEND OF ZELDA

SECOND CHANCE ROUND

We'll start with Osfala, and I suppose the other sages, appearing in A Link Between Worlds. Strictly speaking, they're the same group, I just added them for different reasonings. Osfala, I said "Sahasrahla doesn't have an echo, and he could easily fill that role, being his apprentice." So, for Osfala, I say:

YES

Then we have the other sages, which, alongside some others lower down on this list came from a realization that, with our four Goron reps and four Zora reps and so on, and all the stuff we did for that, we ended up with four full unique movesets, meaning that every single one of them could have had echoes, meaning Darbus and Ralis, generic species models, and some of the LBW sages could have been represented here. So, we will do that. Let's say for Rosso, Darbus can go to Darunia, the generic Goron can go to Darmani, and Rosso can work with either Yunobo or Daruk. Either way, Rosso gets a:

YES

In the same vein, if generic Zoras go to Mikau, and Ralis goes to Ruto, Queen Oren can fit with either Mipha or Sidon. The answer is:

YES

And then, by the same token, I remembered that Irene is literally Maple's apprentice, so:

YES

Then we come to Gulley, the son of the Blacksmith. Now the blacksmith would have his forge and hammer to work with, as well as the weapons he tempers for Link, plus the pouch item that Gulley drops, and I guess there's room to work there. I think I'm going to say:

YES

Sadly, Seres won't be joining her companions, as she basically boils down to "Damsel in Distress #1," getting abducted at the beginning of the game, and not doing much else. So, I have to say:

NO

Next up, the Helmasaur is a common enemy, a quadrupedal dinosaur creature with a metal plate covering its head. I had thought it could be an echo for the Dodongo, but at the end of the day, there just wasn't enough justification for that. So:

NO

And for Fierce Deity Link, well, there's a lot here that are basically "You know, that character really could have been an echo for that character. They don't have one yet." And for this one, it's Young Link. After all, Fierce Deity is Young Link, just a heck of a lot more powerful. So:

YES

Check back tomorrow for the next for characters on our list!
