Springy-Hand Land

SPRINGY-HAND LAND

I always have one or two I sneak in, just because I really like the concept of them. This time, it’s Springy-Hand Land, a stage concept seen a few times across the 2.5D games that came out during the 3DS era, Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot, and would also be featured as a stage in the Fighters series.

This stage would remain mostly as is from its appearance in the fighters series, featuring the row of giant hands on springs in the background that would periodically spring out to the foreground and take out anyone in their path.

Dreamstalk

DREAMSTALK

The plot of Kirby Triple Deluxe begins with a giant beanstalk growing out of Dreamland, carrying Kirby’s home and King Dedede’s castle up with it.

Naturally, this stage will be set on the Dreamstalk, a vertically scrolling stage that likes to take its time rising, letting you take in the scenery around it. Leaves and chunks of rock will act as platforms.

Pyribbit

PYRIBBIT

Triple Deluxe was great for its memorable bosses, as the game also brought us Pyribbit, a giant lava frog living in a volcano.

As a fighter, Pyribbit will be a bit slow, but with a lot of fiery power thanks to its usage of lava, and great jumping ability. Its moveset will pull from its boss fight.

Coily Rattler

COILY RATTLER

One of the most memorable bosses of Triple Deluxe was Coily Rattler, a giant snake made of ancient Egyptian pillars and stonework.

As a fighter, Coily Rattler will be big and heavy but fast, with deadly strikes that inflict pain and poison. Its moveset will pull from its boss battle.

Likelihood rating: Never gonna happen.

Paintra

PAINTRA

Though Drawcia has not been seen since Canvas Curse, in Triple Deluxe, a boss came around hearkening back to her, using the same paint-based concepts. Her name was Paintra.

As a fighter, Paintra would be very similar in concept to Drawcia, using paint to cause slippery puddles all over the stage and summon enemies. Her moveset would pull from her own boss fight and her echo Vividria’s moveset.

Clown Acrobot

CLOWN ACROBOT

Though Beetle, Bell, and Archer all got their due in Fighters and onward, the Circus ability provided by the Clown Acrobot has yet to see any time in the sun, despite being quite versatile.

As a fighter, Clown Acrobot would be bouncy and unpredictable, with fun and crazy moves hearkening back to the circus. Its moveset would pull from the Circus ability.

Spynum

SPYNUM

Archery is naturally an easy weapon set to apply within a given power system, so it’s only natural Kirby would eventually gain an Archer ability, provided by the enemy Spynum. This ability likewise popped up in the Fighters series.

As a fighter, Spynum would be speedy and light, with lots of ranged attacks. Its moveset would pull from the Archer ability, especially in the Fighters series.

Flowery Woods

FLOWERY WOODS

Much as King Dedede’s and Meta Knight’s battles started to vary starting with Triple Deluxe, so too did the Whispy Woods battles. In Triple Deluxe specifically, Kirby faces a much more colorful and flowery version of the tree with lots of pollen falling from it.

As a fighter, Flowery Woods would be similar in nature to Whispy, if maybe a bit slower with a bit less raw power. As a fighter, its moveset would pull from its own boss battle.

Hornhead

HORNHEAD

Alongside Beetley came a mid-boss that also provided the Beetley, a huge rhinoceros beetle reminiscent of a certain Pixar character.

As a fighter, Hornhead is much bulkier than Beetley, with even higher defense but much less speed. It will be an echo of Beetley, pulling from the same move pool.

Beetley

BEETLEY

Kirby Triple Deluxe had a heavy bug-related theme, so naturally, it came with a notable bug-themed copy ability, the Beetle ability, which gave him a big hercules beetle horn to attack with. The move came most from the enemy aptly named Beetley.

As a fighter, Beetley will be fast with high defense and decent strength. Its moveset will pull from all aspects of the Beetle ability.

Ringle

RINGLE

In Kirby Triple Deluxe, Kirby gained the Bell ability, basically a sound-based moveset, derived from the bell enemy Ringle. It is most notable for its appearances in the Kirby Fighters series.

As a fighter, Ringle will have high defense and lots of loud, noisy attacks. Its moveset will pull especially from the Kirby Fighter moveset.

Likelihood rating: Probably not.

Moonja

MOONJA

Though Bio Spark was the OG when it came to the Ninja ability, it is now rivaled for total appearances by Moonja, a similar ninja with ties to the moon.

As a fighter, Moonja will be fast and stealthy, like all of its type. It will be an echo to Bio Spark, pull from the same move pool.

Whippy

WHIPPY

Another new ability Kirby gained in Return is his Whip ability, a power that gives him a cowboy hat and a whip for striking opponents with. The most common provider of this ability is Whippy, a small cat head with a long tail.

As a fighter, Whippy’s mobility will be limited, but it will be light and speedy to make up for it. Its moveset will pull from the Whip ability in general.

Leafan

LEAFAN

Starting in Return to Dream Land, Kirby will gain the leaf ability, which lets him hide in a pile of leaves or send a swirl of leaves out as an attack. Most often, this ability is given by Leafan, a plant bulb with sizable leaves of its own.

As a fighter, Leafan will be light and floaty, with minimal attack power. Its moveset will pull entirely from the Leaf ability in all its forms.

Galbo

GALBO

Here and there throughout the series, you’ll come across a Galbo, a little reptilian blob that generally spews fire, but can come in water and poison varieties as well.

As a fighter, Galbo will be a little tricky in terms of mobility, bouncing around to move itself, and its moveset will pull from all forms of Galbo and their larger form, the Galboros.

Como

COMO

Just like the Piders and the Skulltulas, what game series is complete without your token spider who drops from above on a web. This series’ variety is called the Como.

As a fighter, the Como will use lots of sticky webs to bind up its opponent, and will be adept at climbing walls. Its moveset will pull primarily from the Spider ability and the Como ally both present in Star Allies.

Likelihood rating: Probably not.

Blocky

BLOCKY

Though Rocky is the main source of Kirby’s Stone ability, a mini-boss has also been known to offer it up. This is Blocky, a large sentient block that tries to smash or roll into Kirby, squishing him flat.

As a fighter, Blocky will be an echo to Rocky, with his moves pulling from the Stone ability. However, he will be much bigger and heavier, with a bit more speed.

Queen Sectonia

QUEEN SECTONIA

Upon defeating Taranza, you discover his master, a regal queen driven mad with power.

This is Queen Sectonia. After staring too long in the Dimension Mirror, she became corrupted and evil, ordering her minions to plant the Dreamstalk to take over Dream Land.

As a fighter, Sectonia will be graceful but powerful, using her wings for solid aerials. Her moveset will pull from all phases of her final battle in the game.

Masked Dedede

MASKED DEDEDE

Under Taranza’s spell, King Dedede dons a mask and takes up a much fiercer fighting style.

This is Masked Dedede. With his high tech hammer combined with an axe and stronger wrestler focus, he had just enough distinction to be a separate fighter.

As a fighter, he will be strong and powerful with heavy hitting attacks. His moveset will pull primarily from his boss battle in the game.

Taranza

TARANZA

The next game in the series, Kirby Triple Deluxe, saw Kirby wake up to find that a giant beanstalk has grown in the middle of dreamland, carrying himself and King Dedede up into the sky. King Dedede found himself attacked and abducted by a strange spider mage.

This is Taranza, a servant of Queen Sectonia. At first serving his queen out of loyalty and dedication, he eventually turns against her as he realizes how much she has been corrupted by the Dimension Mirror.

As a fighter, Taranza will be primarily a magic user, with lots of powerful special attacks. His moveset will pull from his own abilities, both magical and bug-related.

Likelihood rating: Good possibility.
