Fountain of Dreams

FOUNTAIN OF DREAMS

Obviously one of the most iconic sights from Kirby’s Adventure is the Fountain of Dreams, from which King Dedede stole the Star Rod in order to prevent Nightmare from infecting it.

The version of the fountain appearing in Smash is iconic, so I am satisfied leaving it exactly as is.

Butter Building

BUTTER BUILDING

Butter Building is an iconic level first appearing in Kirby’s Adventure, with several subsequent appearances and references.

This stage will recreate the original, setting it outside the tower as it slowly turns horizontally, forcing the players to keep pace with it and its changing platform layout.

Mr. Shine & Mr. Bright

MR. SHINE & MR. BRIGHT

Another recurring boss is a tag team between a living sun and a living moon. During their boss fights, one will linger in the air, raining down hazards from above, while the other will drop to the ground to fight Kirby personally, switching back and forth as needed.

As a fighter, their playstyle will mimic this, with one being on the ground at all times and a dedicated button for switching between them. Their movesets will pull from said boss battles.

Likelihood rating: Piranha Plant clause.

Bonkers

BONKERS

Possibly the most recurring mini-boss in the series is the big ape Bonkers, who carries around a giant hammer and is almost always the only major provider of the Hammer ability.

As a fighter, Bonkers will be big and powerful with a surprising amount of speed. His moveset will pull from the Hammer ability in general as well as the additional aspects of his boss fights.

Likelihood rating: Could happen.

Chilly

CHILLY

Even more regularly, the Ice and Freeze ability will be represented by a cute living snowman named Chilly.

As a fighter, Chilly will be a bit on the slow side, made up for by its ability to freeze opponents in their tracks. It will be an echo of Pengy, its moves pulling from Ice and Freeze primarily.

Likelihood rating: Could happen.

Pengy

PENGY

Outside of Mr. Frosty, the Ice or Freeze ability is most often supplied by two regular enemies. The first is a little cartoon penguin called Pengy.

As a fighter, Pengy will be rather slippery and fast, able to slide around the stage with ease. Its moveset will pull from all variations of the Ice or Freeze ability.

Likelihood rating: Probably not.

Bugzzy

BUGZZY

Another recurring mini-boss is the giant stag beetle Bugzzy, best known for grabbing players in his mandibles and suplexing them. He often supplies a copy ability giving Kirby the same power.

As a fighter, Bugzzy will have a lot of strength and decent aerials. His moveset will pull from the Suplex ability itself as well as other aspects of his boss battles, like the bees he sends out.

Likelihood rating: Could happen.

Rocky

ROCKY

Another common copy ability of Kirby’s is the Stone ability, which allows Kirby to transform into a rock, giving him high defense and the ability to bludgeon his enemies in various ways. This is best represented by the enemy Rocky, a small boulder with feet.

As a fighter, Rocky will be slow but strong, with high defense. His moveset will pull from all aspects of the Stone ability throughout the entire series.

Likelihood rating: Piranha Plant clause.

Paint Roller

PAINT ROLLER

A semi-recurring boss throughout the series is the Paint Roller, one of many paint-themed bosses who will bring a painting to life to attack you. This one comes with roller blades to better avoid attacks on himself.

As a fighter, Paint Roller will be fast and rely on the mechanic of creating fighters to fight in his place while avoiding the fray as much as possible. Its moveset will be an echo of Adeleine’s moveset.

Likelihood rating: Probably not.

Noddy

NODDY

Of course, not all copy abilities are going to be great, and one among them actively functions as a hazard. If Kirby swallows the sleeping Noddy, he will gain the Sleep ability, which will knock him out for a short time, making him vulnerable to all attack, but healing him of some damage.

As a fighter, Noddy will be slow and sluggish to control without a lot of power but good recovery. Its moveset will pull primarily from the Sleep Kirby moveset in Kirby Fighters 2.

Likelihood rating: Probably not.

Wheelie

WHEELIE

Another ability Kirby often makes use of is the Wheel ability, which lets him spin and dash at high speeds. This is often represented by the Wheelie enemy, a sentient tire often carrying a bike attachment.

As a fighter, Wheelie will be incredibly fast, among the highest speed stats in the game. Its moveset will pull from its various appearances throughout the series, with some garnishing from the game Kirby: Air Ride.

Likelihood rating: Piranha Plant clause.

Twister

TWISTER

Another of Kirby’s most common abilities is his Tornado ability, giving him the power of wind. Strangely, its most common contributor is a simple little top called a Twister.

As a fighter, the Twister will be small and light, constantly spinning to move around. Its moveset will pull from all the various aspects of the Tornado ability.

Likelihood rating: Never gonna happen.

Mr. Frosty

MR. FROSTY

Much as the series is known for its recurring bosses, so too does it have an assortment of recurring mini-bosses. The first of these is Mr. Frosty, a tubby walrus who often provides Kirby with the Freeze or Ice ability.

As a fighter, Mr. Frosty will be big and heavy, with powerful freezing attacks. His moveset will pull from his various boss battles throughout the series as well as the Freeze ability.

Likelihood rating: Could happen.

Blade Knight

BLADE KNIGHT

Though the Sword Knight would only appear a handful of times, its partner Blade Knight would go on to be a standard constant across the series.

As a fighter, Blade Knight will be an echo of the Sword Knight, with perhaps a bit more defense and speed. Its moveset will take from the same pool.

Likelihood rating: Could happen.

Sword Knight

SWORD KNIGHT

Another of Kirby’s most common abilities is the Sword ability. This is most often provided by the Blade Knight and sometimes by his less regular partner, the Sword Knight.

As a fighter, the Sword Knight will be a standard swordfighter type, with some defense thanks to his armor. His moveset will pull from all aspects of the Sword ability and his appearance in the anime.

Likelihood rating: Probably not.

UFO

UFO

A rather unique ability of Kirby’s is his UFO ability, which lets him fly around and shoot lasers. This ability is most often provided by the aptly named UFO enemy, which looks just like you’d expect it to.

As a fighter, the UFO will have good aerials and projectiles, its moveset pulling from the various aspects of the UFO ability.

Likelihood rating: Never gonna happen.

Sparky

SPARKY

Along with fire, electricity is also common in most power systems, hence we have the Spark or Plasma ability, most often represented by the small green enemy, Sparky.

As a fighter, Sparky will be quick and erratic, mimicking the nature of its element. Its moveset will pull from all aspects of both the Spark and Plasma abilities.

Likelihood rating: Probably not.

Hot Head

HOT HEAD

What power system would ever be complete without a fire ability, and for Kirby’s copy abilities, that power is most often provided by the Hothead, a fiery little creature with a mouth for spouting said flames.

As a fighter, the Hothead will be small and fairly slow, with most of its attacks having an incendiary quality. Its moveset will pull from all aspects of the Fire and Burning abilities.

Likelihood rating: Probably not.

Sir Kibble

SIR KIBBLE

One of Kirby’s most common abilities is Cutter, which allows him to throw a blade forward like a boomerang. This ability is almost always represented by Sir Kibble, a golden knight wearing said boomerang blade atop his helmet.

As a fighter, Sir Kibble will be a bit heavier thanks to his armor, with great defense and range. His moveset will pull from all aspects of the Cutter ability across the series.

Likelihood rating: Could happen.

Mumbies

MUMBIES

A staple of any ghost-themed level, Mumbies are floating mummy heads that like to bite. Though not particularly notable in the games, they did have a memorable appearance in the anime.

As a fighter, the Mumbies will be light and floaty with high defense. Their moveset will pull primarily from their appearance in the anime.

Likelihood rating: Probably not.
