Finally, Kirby: Canvas Curse had the unique aesthetic of having the entire game look like an oil painting.

Naturally, the stage for the game must represent that. It will be set on platforms in the air, with a pristine painting in the background, and new temporary platforms being drawn by an imaginary player all the time.

Paint Roller

PAINT ROLLER

A semi-recurring boss throughout the series is the Paint Roller, one of many paint-themed bosses who will bring a painting to life to attack you. This one comes with roller blades to better avoid attacks on himself.

As a fighter, Paint Roller will be fast and rely on the mechanic of creating fighters to fight in his place while avoiding the fray as much as possible. Its moveset will be an echo of Adeleine’s moveset.

Likelihood rating: Probably not.

Waddle Doo

WADDLE DOO

Taking a step up from the Waddle Dee is the Waddle Doo, a similar creature with a single giant eye capable of shooting magical beams. These have likewise been standard staples of the series, and the most common provider of the Beam ability.

As a fighter, the Waddle Doo will be similar in stats to the Waddle Dee, except with more magical attacks. Their moveset will pull from all the various aspects of the Beam ability throughout the series.

Likelihood rating: Could happen.

WADDLE DEE

As most of the history has been covered already, and we’d likely just be repeating singular lines over and over again, we’re going to skip the top paragraph for this roster, and instead focus on the enemy’s specific role. First up is the Waddle Dee, the most basic and generic enemy in Dream Land. Like many generic enemies in game series, they have proven quite versatile and have had a number of random add-ons to their members over the years.

As fighters, they will be very middling in stats, with not much power or weight or speed. Their moveset will pull from across the series and all the random add-ons they’ve accumulated.

Likelihood rating: Strong.

Ball Kirby

BALL KIRBY

One of the first things Drawcia does is transform Kirby into a ball with no arms or legs.

Kirby as a ball is not a unique concept. Many games including the early spinoffs made use of the concept. This was the first to actively make it a different form from regular Kirby, so we’re placing him here.

As a fighter, Ball Kirby will most just roll, guided along by lines of rainbow light, just like in the game. His moveset will pull from Canvas Curse as well as several other ball-centered games.

Likelihood rating: Never gonna happen.

Drawcia

DRAWCIA

In 2005, the Kirby saw a spinoff in the form of Kirby: Canvas Curse, featuring a plot about a witch that turned all of Dream Land into a living painting.

This is Drawcia, the main villain of Canvas Curse. She only really appears in this game, though subsequent games have featured similar villains with similar powers.

As a fighter, she would be light and floaty, using her magical paintbrush for most of her attacks and leaving the stage a bit of a mess. Her moveset would pull from her main boss fight.

Likelihood rating: Piranha Plant clause.

Kirby: Canvas Curse

KIRBY: CANVAS CURSE

And now, let's begin four games that feel like they should be part of the mainline list but aren't, and now that I've watched through them all, I get it. All the mainline games had the core gameplay tenets like copy abilities and such, whereas these are all built around different design philosophies. For instance, Kirby: Canvas Curse features Kirby transformed into a ball by a witch named Drawcia, and he traverses the levels by rolling constantly, the player drawing paths for him to roll on in order to get around.

Kirby is your main ball, though King Dedede, Meta Knight, Waddle Dee, and Waddle Doo are technically playable but just as balls, so . . . You do technically have copy abilities here gained from rolling into certain enemies, these being: Balloon, which inflates him temporarily; Beam, with the whip rolling around him; Burning, which gives him the meteor form; Crash, which sets off an explosion; Freeze, which gives him a freezing shield; Missile, which turns him into a missile; Needle, which lets him roll up walls and ceilings; Spark, which shoots a lightning bolt straight up; Stone, which makes him a heavy stone; Tornado, which surrounds him in a tornado; and Wheel, which makes him roll much faster.

Drawcia is our main villain, a paint witch that turned the world into a painting. She attacks by summoning enemies, throwing energy orbs at Kirby, and diving at him, before turning into her soul form which is very similar to Zero and other villain cores. She's also easily the best gimmick rep for the game, so there's that too.

King Dedede races you in a minecart as a boss, Kracko waits in a Block Ball-style room for you, and Paint Roller draws Bombers to come after you. The enemies in this game are Waddle Dees wielding spears and floating with dandelion fluff, Bang Bang, Blado, Blipper, Bloon, Bobo, Bomber, Bouncy, Bronto Burt, a Cackling Painting, Cappy, Chilly, Como, Flamer, Gaveela, Glunk, Gordo, Kabu, Needlous, Pacto, Rocky, Snoppy, Soarar, Sparky, Squishy, Thudd, Tick, Topper, Twister, Waddle Doo, and Wheelie.

The stages are all named after colors, including Reddy Land, Arange Gorge, Iello Adventure, Neo Greo, Bloo Hills, Omarine Zone, Wonder Lilane, and finally, the World of Drawcia.
