Alivel Mall

ALIVEL MALL

Kirby and the Forgotten Land mainly followed the aesthetic of familiar human landmarks and settings, but overrun and broken down from centuries of human absence. This is best demonstrated in the first major area, set in a large mall, overgrown with foliage.

The stage for this game will be set in this mall, with escalators on each side carrying players between the top and bottom levels. Through the window in the back, various animals will run around and play, including Gorimondo if he’s not part of the match.

Sillydillo

SILLYDILLO

Late in the game, you tackle another Beast Pack boss in the form of an unhinged armadillo named Sillydillo who tries to tango with you.

As a fighter, Sillydillo will be erratic in his movements with high defense, always trying to latch on to his opponents. His moveset will pull from his boss battles.

Likelihood rating: Probably not.

Fleurina

FLEURINA

Another member of the Beast Pack and only mid-boss among them that’s not a wilder version of an old mid-boss is the swan Fleurina.

As a fighter, Fleurina will be elegant and graceful, using ballet moves to get around the stage. She will be an echo of Twister, pulling her moves from the Tornado ability she provides.

Likelihood rating: Probably not.

Gorimondo

GORIMONDO

In Kirby and the Forgotten Land, the Beast Pack is led by Leongar and Clawroline, with other members including the gigantic gorilla boss Gorimondo.

As a fighter, Gorimondo will be big and powerful, if a bit slow and lumbering. His moveset will pull from his boss battles across the game.

Likelihood rating: Piranha Plant clause.

Gigant Edge

GIGANT EDGE

Another recurring midboss, this one first appearing in Return to Dream Land, is Gigant Edge, a large armored knight armed with a sword and shield, that tends to offer up the Sword ability when defeated.

As a fighter, Gigant Edge will be heavy and powerful, using its shield for high defense. It will be a semi-clone to Sword Knight and Blade Knight, using its shield in its moveset a bit more often.

Likelihood rating: Piranha Plant clause.

Bonkers

BONKERS

Possibly the most recurring mini-boss in the series is the big ape Bonkers, who carries around a giant hammer and is almost always the only major provider of the Hammer ability.

As a fighter, Bonkers will be big and powerful with a surprising amount of speed. His moveset will pull from the Hammer ability in general as well as the additional aspects of his boss fights.

Likelihood rating: Could happen.

Mr. Frosty

MR. FROSTY

Much as the series is known for its recurring bosses, so too does it have an assortment of recurring mini-bosses. The first of these is Mr. Frosty, a tubby walrus who often provides Kirby with the Freeze or Ice ability.

As a fighter, Mr. Frosty will be big and heavy, with powerful freezing attacks. His moveset will pull from his various boss battles throughout the series as well as the Freeze ability.

Likelihood rating: Could happen.

Fecto Elfilis

FECTO ELFILIS

Behind Leongar is a strange goopy substance contained inside a large capsule, the same color as Elfilin’s fur.

This is Fecto Elfilis, a powerful being that once attacked the Beast Pack’s world, until the old inhabitants managed to subdue him, trap him, and tap into his power, using him to advance their technology until they were able to leave the planet behind forever. In the present, the Beast Pack now wish to follow in their footsteps, but need a missing piece: Elfilin.

As a fighter, Fecto Elfilis is fast and devastating, with strong aerials and lightning-fast strikes. Its moveset will pull from its boss battle as well as the abilities of its incomplete form, Fecto Forgo.

Likelihood rating: Could happen.

Leongar

LEONGAR

Kirby and Elfilin finally work their way to the headquarters of the Beast Pack, where they encounter a lion sitting on a throne.

This is Leongar, the leader of the Beast Pack. Once a benevolent leader, he was corrupted by the influence of Fecto Elfilis and became a fearsome tyrant.

As a fighter, he will be fast and strong, with powerful slashing moves. His moveset will pull from his boss battle at the end of the game.

Likelihood rating: Could happen.

Forgo Dedede

FORGO DEDEDE

Apparently a trend around here, King Dedede too is captured by the Beast Pack and affixed with a boar mask that transforms him into a wild animal.

This is Forgo Dedede, who attacks Kirby by rampaging around like a boar and enhanced with fiery power.

As a fighter, he will be faster and stronger than regular Dedede, not tethered by any sentience or reason. His moveset will pull from his boss battle.

Likelihood rating: Never gonna happen.

Clawroline

CLAWROLINE

Kirby would soon discover that the abductions of his people are caused by the Beast Pack, a band of intelligent animals seeking to gain power to leave their world. Though Kirby fights many of their forces throughout his adventure, one of the most notable is a female acrobatic leopard.

This is Clawroline, the former partner of Leongar before he became corrupted by Fecto Elfilis. Though acting only as a boss in the main game, she would become a major support character in the post-game.

As a fighter, she would be fast and agile, among the fastest in the game. Her moveset would pull primarily from her various boss fights.

Likelihood rating: Could happen.

Elfilin

ELFILIN

Though most Kirby games have always been 2D sidescrollers, even with 3D graphics or mechanics, in 2022, Kirby made a new stride, releasing a fully 3D adventure in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. The story begins with a strange portal opening up and several residents of Dream Land being sucked through. Kirby awakens to find himself on a strange beach, and ends up rescuing a small furry creature from a cage.

This is Elfilin, who would end up becoming Kirby’s companion throughout his adventure. At the end of the game, it is revealed that he is a small piece broken off from the malicious entity Fecto Elfilis with no memory of his past life.

As a fighter, he would be small and light, sweeping around the stage gracefully. His moveset would pull from his own abilities and the general gimmicks and moves unique to Forgotten Land.

Likelihood rating: Good possibility.

Morpho Knight

MORPHO KNIGHT

After the main story, a DLC campaign was released, featuring Galacta Knight as the apparent final boss, only for the mighty warrior to be absorbed by a strange red butterfly from another dimension.

This butterfly transforms into Morpho Knight, a character who had been planned to exist all the way back in the Game Cube era. It soon takes over Galacta Knight’s spot as a bonus final boss in Star Allies and the Forgotten Land.

As a fighter, Morpho Knight will have the best aerials of the various knight characters, with powerful dark moves at its disposal. Its moveset will pull from its various final battles.

Likelihood rating: Could happen.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land

KIRBY AND THE FORGOTTEN LAND

And now, we come to the first Kirby adventure game that actually has him play in 3D and not just 3D backgrounds. (I think there are a couple like Air Ride that were technically full 3D first, but that's a spinoff so . . .) The story features Kirby and friends getting sucked up into a portal that takes them to another world that is totally not a post-apocalyptic world, ruled by a band of anthropomorphic animals called the Beast Pack.

Kirby is our main character as always, with most of his basic moves translated fairly well into 3D. He gains the Drill ability, letting him dig into the ground, as well as the Ranger ability, giving him a gun to shoot with. These join the returning Bomb, Crash, Cutter, Fire, Hammer, Ice (with a skating ability now), Needle, Sleep, Sword, and Tornado. Each of these can be upgraded. Bomb gets the ability to chain bombs and send out a homing drone; Crash lets him freeze time; Cutter gives him curving Chakrams and ricocheting saw blades; Drill gives him a pencil projectile and twin drills; Fire lets him erupt like a volcano and grow dragon wings; Hammer gives him a squeaky hammer, a stone hammer, and lets him dual wield while throwing fire; Ice lets him create snowmen and shoot icicles; Needle lets him shoot projectiles while rolling and leave spike traps on the ground; Ranger lets him dual wield and shoot lasers; Sleep lets him restore full health and gain a boost; Sword gives him a giant sword and shield and lets him use Meta Knight and Morpho Knight's swords; and Tornado lets you expand the vortex and shoot lightning.

Another new ability for Kirby is his Mouthful Mode, which lets him suck up giant objects and take on their forms. These include a glider, car, roller coaster, cone, dome, lightbulb, rolling pipe, hoop, scissor lift, stairs, storage locker, vending machine, water balloon, and a big rig. I should also mention Elfilin, Kirby's "Navi" of the game, who thankfully technically doesn't betray you. He's a solid gimmick rep here. Bandana Waddle Dee also acts as your player two, using his spear to multi-jab, stab, throw, Waddle Copter, all the basics.

King Dedede and Meta Knight both appear. King Dedede is brainwashed yet again, first fighting you as himself, using his hammer and body slams while knocking over large pillars. Then he fights you as Forgo Dedede, wearing a pig mask that turns him fully feral. During this fight, he can dual wield hammers, slam them down, summon pillars of fire, spin, leap, toss his hammers, charge like a bull, body slam and leave lava behind, summon enemies, and inhale. While writing this, I realized I forgot about the swole version from Star Allies, so I'll make note of that here. In that battle, he pounds the ground hard, tosses rotten food, break the ground, jump high into the air, and leap between poles (wait, no punches?). Waddle Dees act as your NPCs, building a town on this new world, and Meta Knight appears as a challenger in the colosseum after that is built.

The Beast Pack function as your main villains, wishing to unleash a powerful creature used by humans centuries ago to open portals between worlds and leave Earth behind. Their leader is Leongar, a lion who slashes with his claws, bites, spews an energy beam from his mouth, casts beam slashes, and pounds the ground. Then we have Clawroline, his . . . lover?/partner? who attacks with slashing claws, throwing knives, pouncing, and dashing at high speed. Then there's Gorimondo, a giant gorilla who swings his fists, spins, stomps, and pulls rocks out of the ground to throw. And finally we have Sillydillo, who rolls around, catches Kirby in a cage and shakes him, and dances with a puppet partner.

As for the ancient being of ultimate power, you first fight it as Fecto Forgo, a blob of goop that chases you down a hall and spits goop at you, before it absorbs Elfilin, its missing piece, and transforms into Fecto Elfilis. In this form, it flies, stabs with its rapier, creates homing swords, tears holes in reality, and heals itself. In the secret final ending, it transforms into Morpho Knight, fighting much like Meta Knight, but also teleporting, using flames, casting soul forms of its original self, using sound waves, and having two larger swords.

The only other boss not included is Tropic Woods, a bigger version of Whispy Woods with exploding cannonballs. Our midbosses include Fleurina, a stork who spins with a tornado and sends out smaller tornadoes, as well as Wild Bonkers, Wild Edge, and Wild Frosty, larger and wilder versions of Bonkers, Gigant Edge, and Mr. Frosty, but with mostly the same attacks just stronger. Frosty does throw large snowballs now.

Our returning non-copy enemies include Kabu, Blipper, Bouncy, Bronto Burt, Cappy, Gabon, Glunk, Gordo, Mumbies, Pacto, Phanta, Scarfy, Spookstep, Squishy, and Walf. These join newcomers Awoofy, Tortuilding, Buffahorn, Gnawcrodile, Orabiroo, Poison Croakom, Rabiroo, Sssnacker, and Tortorner.

The stages include Natural Plain, a generic area (with a mall); Everbay Coast, a beach area; Wondaria Remains, an amusement park; Winter Horns, an ice level; Originull Wasteland, a desert level; Redgar Forbidden Lands, a lava level; and Lab Discovera, where Fecto Elfilis is held. There's also the Waddle Dee village and Forgo Dreams, the final secret level.
