Kirby and the Amazing Mirror

KIRBY AND THE AMAZING MIRROR

Now let's move on to the second half of the mainline Kirby games, starting with Kirby and the Amazing Mirror for the Game Boy Advance. A strange mirror appears in the skies over Dream Land. Meta Knight heads in to investigate, while a new Dark Meta Knight emerges and splits Kirby into four, leading them inside in the subsequent chase.

Kirby, or our four Kirby's, are our main characters, with all the basics of Kirby under his belt. There's also Shadow Kirby, but he's more friendly than anything, just popping up here and there. Kirby's new copy abilities include: Cupid, giving him wings and arrows to shoot; Magic, which lets Kirby play roulette to get a random item, copy ability, or to become invincible; Master, which is a more powerful Sword gained from Meta Knight; Mini, which shrinks him down; Missile, which turns him into a missile; and Smash, which gives him a recreation of his moveset from the Smash series. His returning abilities are Beam, Bomb, Burning, Cook, Crash, Cutter, Fighter, Fire, Hammer, Ice, Laser, Parasol, Sleep, Spark, Stone, Sword, Throw, Tornado, UFO, and Wheel, which are all standard in their use.

Meta Knight is our main support character, flying into the mirror early on and seemingly disappearing. "He" appears at one point to challenge you, but that is soon revealed to be Dark Meta Knight in disguise. During Dark Meta Knight's battle, he attacks with his sword like Meta Knight, but also sends out energy waves from his sword, and creates a massive tornado at one point.

In the end, the true villain is revealed to be Dark Mind, a being from the mirror dimension who seems to be related to Dark Matter at any rate. In his first battle where he resembles Nightmare, he can teleport and shoot star bullets, use mirrors to attack, and drops a disco ball that explodes. Then he transforms into a giant eye like Zero, during which he fires lasers and summons smaller enemies.

The other bosses include King Golem, a giant living tower similar to Whispy Woods who drops rocks and enemies on Kirby. Then we have Moley, who pops out of burrows and throws things at Kirby. Then we have Kracko, attacking with eye beams and rain. Then we have Mega Titan, who sends his four fists at you, detaches his head, and shoots missiles. Gobbler is a shark who charges at Kirby and spits out smaller sharks. Wiz is a magician who can summon various enemies and items from his hat. Then we have Master Hand and Crazy Hand from Smash, who will slam, grab Kirby, shoot him with finger guns, and clap together.

The mini-bosses include: Batafire, a large flaming bat that can spit fireballs; Bombar, a plane that shoots missiles and drops bombs; Bonkers, with his standard moveset; Box Boxer, a dog that punches, tosses, and fires energy blasts; Boxy, a living present that spits smaller presents; Mr. Frosty, with his same ice cube tactics; and Phan Phan, an elephant that rolls around and tosses Kirby with its trunk.

Non-copy enemies include the returning Waddle Dee, Blipper, Bronto Burt, Glunk, Gordo, Scarfy, and Squishy, with the newcomers Blockin, Chip, Droppy, Haley, Jack, Leap, Mirra, Prank, Roly Poly, Shooty, Snooter, and Soarar.

The stages are arranged in an almost Metroidvania style, with a bunch of levels accessible through a central hall full of mirrors called Rainbow Route (guess what I'm using as the representative stage!), while the others include: Moonlight Mansion, a haunted level; Cabbage Cavern, an underground level; Mustard Mountain, a volcanic level; Carrot Castle, a castle level; Olive Ocean, a beach level; Peppermint Palace, an ice level; Radish Ruins, a desert level; Candy Constellation, a space level; and Dimension Mirror is the final location where you fight Dark Mind.

Items in the game include 1-Ups, Area Maps, Batteries, Candy, Energy Drinks, Food, Maxim Tomatoes, Notes, Sounds, Sound Players, Spray Paint, Vitality, and World Maps.
