Today, let's cover the sequel to Mario Superstar Baseball, and last full baseball game made. (Which is really a shame. I'd love to see a more modern game with Rosalina, a few Lumas, Nabbit, Pauline, Peachette, the Koopalings, a few Wario Ware characters and so on. This would be the game for it.) This game was made for the Wii, and as such made use of the Wiimote motion controls and all that, but all things considered, it was mostly the same game, same basic baseball mechanics if a little updated.

Our twelve captains all return, with much the same super moves except that Luigi now uses tornadoes instead of fire (not totally sure why, but okay), Yoshi's pitch uses rainbows, Birdo uses her sucking in and shooting abilities from her odd little mouth, Donkey Kong uses barrels now, Bowser uses his fire breath, and Bowser Jr. uses paint like in Super Mario Sunshine. All of the support characters return, alongside Baby Peach, Baby Daisy, Baby Donkey Kong, Funky Kong, Tiny Kong, King K. Rool, Wiggler, Blooper, five more Yoshis, and four Kritters.

The story mode of the game takes place in the Baseball Kingdom, an island that features all of the main fields. These include: Mario Stadium, the same from before; Peach Ice Garden, an ice rink that someone had the bright idea to play baseball on; Yoshi Park, much the same; Wario City, a big Vegas-style city fitting of Wario; DK Jungle, very similar; Luigi's Mansion, a Luigi's Mansion-themed field; Daisy Cruiser, taking place on an ocean liner; Bowser Jr. Playroom, a giant toybox playroom type of level; and Bowser's Castle, very similar to the original.

There are a few more "item" items that you can use in gameplay, including a Green Shell, a Fireball, a Mini-Boo to turn the ball invisible, a Bob-Omb, a POW "Ball," a Banana Peel, and a Lightning Bolt. Most of these function the way you would think they do in a Mario game.
