Shipshape Island

Mario & Luigi: Brothership’s whole gimmick is that you are sailing on a sea of floating islands working to connect them all through their lighthouses, your central hub world being a ship-shaped island manned by Connie, Arc, and Snoutlet.

A stage for the game will be based on the island, which will be a bit large in size with terrain mostly matching the paths from the island. On occasion, another island will appear behind it, linked by a beam of light, and the cannon will appear on the front, occasionally pulling in anyone standing too close and shooting them offscreen.

Reclusa

For most of the game, Zokket’s attention seems to be solely focused on a large egg glowing with dark energy. After he is defeated, the egg with hatch, revealing the true mastermind.

This is Reclusa, the most misanthropic misanthrope to ever hate humanity. He wishes to create a world where every single person is completely alone, free from the bonds he hates so much. He was sealed away in an egg centuries before, until he managed to corrupt Cozette to help him hatch.

As a fighter, he will be quick and erratic, echoing his crazy demeanor. His moveset will pull from his main battle as well as his demonstrated abilities outside of battle. I’m not sure how to make it work, but I’d love for him to be particularly bad in team battles.

Likelihood rating: Piranha Plant clause.

Sharpcask

Mario and Luigi work their way through two major seas, reconnecting all the islands they find there, and taking on the Extension Corps whenever they find them. For most of the game, the Corps’ main strategy seems to be calling in some big monster so that they can get away.

The third of these is Sharpcask, a giant living robotic barrel that likes to toss other barrels at you or roll at you himself.

As a fighter, he will be big and lumbering, unless he is on his side, when he will gain a burst of speed. He will also be high in defense. His moveset will pull from his battle.

Likelihood rating: Never gonna happen.

Zok Trooper

Starting on Lottacoins Island, Mario and Luigi will start encountering enemies working for Zokket, based on various connector plugs.

These are the Zok Troopers, who come in multiple varieties throughout the game, included helmet, spike, ring, zokkarang, and jet varieties, and generally act as the game’s standard mooks.

As fighters, they’ll be a bit below average in their stats, with their moveset combining the abilities of the various forms.

Likelihood rating: Probably not.

Zokket

Later on, we see the Extension Corps regroup to report to their boss, a strange masked figure wearing pliers as a bowtie.

This is Zokket, the apparent leader of the Zok Troop. “He” turns out to be Cozette, Connie’s former mentor and head wattanist, possessed and corrupted by the influence of Reclusa.

As a fighter, Zokket will be slow but powerful, his moveset pulling from his main boss battle, as well as the glohm energy that he gathers and spreads to the citizens of Concordia.

Likelihood rating: Could happen.

Snaptor

Ten first appears hanging from the talons of a red bird with a jumper cable for a head.

These are the Snaptors, winged enemies who play several important roles in the game, including acting as transport for the Extension Corps, abducting civilians for use in Zokket’s schemes, and a large one acting as a main boss.

As a fighter, the Snaptor will have a strong focus on aerial combat, its moveset pulling from its various moves in battle.

Likelihood rating: Never gonna happen.

The Extension Corps

Watching Mario and Luigi’s battle with Gorumbla from afar, we get our first view of one of the game’s true villains, a strange figure with a headphone jack for a head.

This is Ten, one of the three members of the Extension Corps, alongside Ecks and Shun. This trio acted as recurring villains throughout the game, with a bit of a humorous Team Rocket-style bent to them.

As fighters, the Corps will switch through the different skins. Their moveset will pull from their various boss battles and demonstrated abilities.

Likelihood rating: Piranha Plant clause.
