Character Sheet: Goomba (Original Handhelds)

GOOMBA

Now, let's quickly go over the few new characters and those who need revision. It's probably no surprise that there are only a few of both in total:

1. Mario (Revision)
8. Koopa Troopa (Revision)
10. Goomba (Revision)
11. Piranha Plant (Revision)
12. Boo (Revision)
35. Princess Daisy
36. Wario
37. Tatanga
38. Captain Syrup

Today, let's go over the Goomba, who appears in both Super Mario Land and Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. Sadly, the Goomba doesn't offer up much, acting almost identically to the way they act in every other games as regular and Paragoombas, with only a scuba-helmeted version and a ghost version included, but still acting the same. Strangely, the most plausible new addition comes from the first two Wario games in the form of Captain Syrup's most common minions: the Pirate Gooms. While they're not exactly Goombas, clearly there was some inspiration involved. Throughout the games, the Gooms carry around spears that they can jut out and spike enemies. Adding that to the Goomba's repertoire would be a solid reference at any rate.

Here is the moveset as adapted so far:

Standard B: Goom Spear
I've traded out the head butt move for the spear of the Pirate Goom, which the Goomba will thrust out and spike anyone standing too close. Since the head butt is more of a physical move, it can work just fine as one of his other moves.

Side B: Kuribo's Shoe
Same as before

Up B: Paragoomba
Same as before

Down B: Stack Up
Every Goomba in the stack will likewise jut out the Goom Spear when the Standard B command is pressed.

Final Smash: Goomboss
Same as before. He still hasn't appeared, but hey! We got a giant Goom though.

Entrance: Descends by parachute.

Taunts: "I'm a lonely Goomba, stuck between two pipes." Still would be fun. The little hop around and squeak from Super Mario 64 too.

Next up: Let's see if Piranha Plant can add anything new.
