Character Sheet: Princess Daisy (Original Handhelds)

PRINCESS DAISY

Now, let's quickly go over the few new characters and those who need revision. It's probably no surprise that there are only a few of both in total:

1. Mario (Revision)
8. Koopa Troopa (Revision)
10. Goomba (Revision)
11. Piranha Plant (Revision)
12. Boo (Revision)
35. Princess Daisy
36. Wario
37. Tatanga
38. Captain Syrup

Today, let's go over everyone's favorite tomboy princess, Princess Daisy! Princess Daisy has only appeared so far in Super Mario Land, basically as a stand-in for Princess Peach. (To be honest, from the developers' standpoint, I haven't a single frickin' clue why it wasn't just Peach). She acts in the same manner Peach does, mostly as a living goalpost for the end of each world.

Now, one could simply make Daisy an echo of Peach. After all, that's exactly what she is right now in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and she fits the role just fine. However, there is also the possibility of her being a reference character, representing anything particularly unique to the mechanics or gameplay of Super Mario Land in particular, meaning: Super Balls, the Jet, and the Submarine. I think, we could get by with a little bit of both.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Super Ball
Daisy fires out of her hand a small, black projectile that then bounces around the stage, ricocheting any time it collides with a solid object. Basically, Mario's main projectile from Super Mario Land.

Side B: Submarine
The submarine Mario uses to traverse underwater levels in Mario Land appears around Daisy which then plows forward across the stage, firing off projectiles in its wake.

Up B: Parasol
Daisy of course comes equipped with her own Parasol, though not yet in this game, so I figure this one works well enough to stay as her main Up B move.

Down B: Vegetable OR Flower
Considering Daisy's floral theme, it seems fitting that she keep this one of Peach's moves as well. Though, it's possibly that instead of vegetables, she might pull up flowers, which possibly have different effects than the simple projectiles that the vegetables are.

Final Smash: Biplane
Daisy hops into the flying machine that Mario uses throughout the final level of the game that then swoops offscreen. Daisy in the plane then appears to the side and starts firing rapidly at the stage, the player moving the craft up and down with the controls.

Entrance: She can float down on her parasol as well.

Taunts: "Hi, I'm Daisy!" Come on, we all knew that was coming.

Next up: Let's bring in Mario's greedy rival Wario!
