Character Sheet: The Pineco Line

PINECO/FORRETRESS

Now skipping over a line of eight standalones and new evos, we come to Pineco and Forretress, based on bagworms, but with Pineco designed to look like a pinecone, and Forretress maybe like a walnut? Pineco is most notable for its role in the anime as one of Brock's Pokemon, with a penchant for exploding in his face.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Bug Bite > Spikes

Side B: Protect > Iron Defense

Up B: Rapid Spin > Heavy Slam

Down B: Self-Destruct

Final Smash: Ultimate Self-Destruct

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Wobbling around, tucking into its shell, things like that.

Kirby Hat: The top of each's respective shell.

Kart: The Poke Ball car.

Special Move: Iron Defense

Spirit Battle: On Ilex Forest.

Victory Screen: Resting and tucking back into its shell.

Losing Screen: Fainted.

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Snubbull wants to play!

Character Sheet: The Wooper Line

WOOPER/QUAGSIRE

Skipping over Yanma, we come to Wooper and Quagsire, a Water/Ground combo line based on axolotls and newts in a more general sense. They've always had mild popularity, due to being goofy goobers, but gained it even more so in Gen IX, when Wooper gained a regional variant that evolves into a completely new evolution, but we'll cover those later.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Water Gun

Side B: Mud Shot > Muddy Water

Up B: Rain Dance

Down B: Tail Whip > Aqua Tail

Final Smash: Earthquake

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Dancing around, splashing in mud, things like that.

Kirby Hat: The head-feather-antenna things for Wooper, the head for Quagsire.

Kart: The Poke Ball car.

Special Move: Mud Shot

Spirit Battle: On GR Island.

Victory Screen: Dancing around happily.

Losing Screen: Fainted.

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Pineco bursts with enthusiasm!

Character Sheet: The Sunkern Line

SUNKERN/SUNFLORA

Skipping over Aipom, we come to Sunkern and Sunflora, based on a sunflower seed and a sunflower respectively, and that's really all there is to them. They've really never had anything added on to them either. For what it's worth, at least they were good for representing the new Sun Stone evolution item.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Razor Leaf > Solar Beam

Side B: Mega Drain > Giga Drain

Up B: Growth > Petal Blizzard

Down B: Seed Bomb

Final Smash: Sunshine Burst

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Dancing around, spreading their leaves, things like that.

Kirby Hat: The little leaf sprout, then the ring of petals.

Kart: The Poke Ball car.

Special Move: Solar Beam.

Spirit Battle: On Ilex Forest.

Victory Screen: Spreading its leaves and basking in the sunlight.

Losing Screen: Fainted.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Wooper plays in the mud!

Character Sheet: The Hoppip Line

HOPPIP/SKIPLOOM/JUMPLUFF

Next, we skip over Sudowoodo as this generation's first standalone, and then Politoed as a new evolution, we come to Hoppip, Skiploom, and Jumpluff, light little balls of dandelion fluff that get blown away in the wind. I thought Hoppip was an apple when I first caught it and named him Applebob. Made it really awkward when I evolved him up into a Jumpluff.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Sleep Powder > Cotton Spore (II)

Side B: Bullet Seed

Up B: Fairy Wind > Acrobatics (III)

Down B: Absorb > Mega Drain (II) > Giga Drain (III)

Final Smash: Cotton Storm

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Floating around happily, waving its fluff around, things like that.

Kirby Hat: The leaves, flower, and cotton fluff respectively.

Kart: The Poke Ball car.

Special Move: Cotton Spore.

Spirit Battle: On Poke Floats.

Victory Screen: A swarm of them floating away into the distance.

Losing Screen: Fainted.

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Sunkern blooms in the sunshine.

Character Sheet: The Marill Line

MARILL/AZUMARILL

Skipping over Bellossom for now, we next come to Marill and Azumarill, a line based on mice and rabbit, but Water type. When it was first revealed, a lot of people thought it was going to be the "new" Pikachu, even gaining a jokey fan-name Pikablu. It is best remembered for its spot on Tracey's team in the anime. It would later gain a baby form in Azurill, but we'll cover that later.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Water Gun > Hydro Pump

Side B: Charm > Play Rough

Up B: Bounce

Down B: Defense Curl > Aqua Tail

Final Smash: Mega Bounce

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Bouncing around on its tail, dancing, things like that.

Kirby Hat: The ears and tail of both.

Kart: The Poke Ball car.

Special Move: Bounce

Spirit Battle: On Puzzle League.

Victory Screen: Bouncing on its tail and doing a little dance.

Losing Screen: Fainted.

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Hoppip blew in with the wind.

Character Sheet: The Mareep Line

MAREEP/FLAAFFY/AMPHAROS

Next up, we have the Mareep line, based on sheep, or more specifically electric sheep, like the title of the book. They evolve up into Ampharos, which is not particularly sheep-like, but whatever it is, it's one of my all-time favorites of Gen II. Ampharos is particularly well-known for its role in the plot where the gym leader Jasmine is spending all her time tending to the one at the top of the lighthouse because it's sick.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Thunder Shock > Thunder Punch (III)

Side B: Tackle > Electro Ball (II)

Up B: Cotton Spore > Thunder Wave (III)

Down B: Charge > Discharge (II)

Final Smash: Flock of Sheep > Mega Ampharos (III)

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Baaing, shaking its fluff, making its tail glow, things like that.

Kirby Hat: The funky ears, head gem, and fluff when it has it.

Kart: The Poke Ball car.

Special Move: Discharge

Spirit Battle: On Mt. Silver.

Victory Screen: Lighting up its tail and letting it glow for all to see.

Losing Screen: Fainted.

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Marill appeared out of the blue!

Character Sheet: The Natu Line

NATU/XATU

Next up, we have the Natu line, based on a grape with arts-and-crafts supplies glued to it. I kid, I kid. Actually, they are based on Native American totem poles, like the kind you see with the bird head on top, and are apparently constantly staring into the future.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Peck > Psychic

Side B: Confuse Ray

Up B: Teleport > Air Slash

Down B: Future Sight

Final Smash: Omen of Doom (basically it has a bad prophecy and then an apocalyptic event happens; probably one based on the climax of various games)

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Standing and staring into the distance, flaring its wings to look more like a totem pole, things like that.

Kirby Hat: The head feathers and beak.

Kart: The Poke Ball car.

Special Move: Future Sight.

Spirit Battle: On Gym Leader Castle.

Victory Screen: Standing on a cliff, staring into the sunrise.

Losing Screen: Fainted.

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Mareep had a little slam.
