Brinstar

BRINSTAR

Throughout the Metroid series, only a few areas have ever reappeared. One of the most common of these is Brinstar, the first area of Planet Zebes in both Metroid and Super Metroid, which also typically acts as the area where Kraid lives.

Super Smash Bros. represents the area well through their Brinstar stage, giving you a good visual grasp of what you can expect from any given Metroid game, with the Chozo statue in the background, the acid/lava rising and lowering, and the alien, almost-living platforms that provide just enough of an alien feel reminiscent of Alien movies and the art of H.R. Geiger.

Blast Ball Arena

BLAST BALL ARENA

Metroid Prime: Federation Force is best known for its multiplayer mode Blast Ball, which acts like a sort of football on steroids, in the same vein as Rocket League.

This stage will take place on one of the Blast Ball arenas from the game, with a concave floor and goals on both sides that will dole out an instant KO if a player lands in them. A giant ball will be a fixture of the stage, getting knocked around in the fight, and knocking fighters around right back.

Biologic Space Laboratories

BIOLOGIC SPACE LABORATORIES

Metroid Fusion took place on a derelict space research station, where X-Parasites have killed most of the crew and dangerous creatures run rampant. You also spend much of your time being stalked by the monster SA-X.

This stage will be long and tall, with different levels and doors that will take you in and out and monsters (such as Zombie Researchers) creeping around in areas inaccessible to the fighters, who will be watching and following the fight intensely. Most of the stage design and platforms will be made up of tech and lab equipment partially destroyed.

Artaria

ARTARIA

Metroid Dread had a distinct air about it, with intricate backgrounds that showed an added depth and atmosphere to the world of ZDR as you explored and steered clear of the creeping EMMIs.

This stage will capture that atmosphere, using a standard stage layout in front of the almost snowy appearance of the backgrounds found in the stage’s first level. Here and there, the lights will go dark, and little spotlights will crop up, lending the only light for the battle.

Metroid Roster

METROID ROSTER

And that is our full roster for the entire Metroid game franchise, excluding anyone originating from a comic or other non-game media. If this were a real roster in a real game, who ya mainin'?

Chozo Soldier

CHOZO SOLDIER

While Raven Beak was forced to rely on robots to do his bidding, the rest of his soldiers were rapidly transformed into X-Parasites themselves, which then retained the shape of their hosts and regularly attacked Samus as well.

These are the Chozo Soldiers, zombified warriors killed and copied by the parasites. These likewise functioned as minibosses for Samus, attacking her with long spears and warrior tactics.

As fighters, the Chozo Soldiers will be a bit slower than their robot counterparts, more trained in Mawkin combat techniques than those pulled from others. Their movesets will pull from their various battles.

Likelihood rating: Probably not.

Robot Chozo Soldier

ROBOT CHOZO SOLDIER

The impetus for the plot of Dread was the Mawkin tribe’s X-Parasite specimens breaking loose and infecting most of the tribe, forcing Raven Beak to seal himself away, instead activating robotic soldiers built by the tribe to do his bidding.

These are the Robot Chozo Soldiers, mini-bosses that Samus regularly has to fight, that take a lot of their fighting style not only from the Chozo, but from Samus’s power suit and the Space Pirates as well.

As fighters, the Robot Chozo Soldiers will be fast and agile with high defense. Their movesets will pull from their numerous mini-boss fights throughout the game.

Likelihood rating: Never gonna happen.
