My Pokémon Ranch

MY POKÉMON RANCH

There’s really not a ton to say about My Pokémon Ranch. It’s basically a Gen IV version of Pokémon Box, where you can transfer all of your Pokémon from Diamond and Pearl to be stored, except it presents it all in the context of a ranch run by a girl named Hayley, and all the Pokémon are weird chibi models like those we’d start seeing in the Rumble games. That’s about it, really.

Character Sheet: Lunatone and Solrock

LUNATONE/SOLROCK

Next, we have Lunatone and Solrock, a pair of meteorite-based Pokémon patterned after the sun and moon respectively, once again designed to be a pair just like Plusle and Minun. They are famously the signature Pokémon of twin gym leaders Tate and Liza. I also felt strongly that they should have been legendaries for the longest time, but I was a dumb kid when I thought that.

Here’s their respective movesets:

Standard B: Moonblast | Flare Blitz

Side B: Rock Throw

Up B: Cosmic Power

Down B: Explosion

Final Smash: Lunar Meteor Storm | Solar Meteor Storm

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Floating ominously, gleaming in their respective light, things like that.

Kirby hat: I kinda want to say “Same thing as Mr. Shine and Mr. Bright.”

Kart: The Poke Ball car

Special move: Cosmic Power

Spirit battle: on Fiore Temple

Victory Screen: Flying back up into the heavens

Losing screen: fainted

Color swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Barboach lurks just below the surface.

Character Sheet: Zangoose and Seviper

ZANGOOSE/SEVIPER

Next up, we have a pair designed around each other, but instead of companions like Plusle and Minun, these two are mortal enemies. Zangoose is a wild and rabid mongoose, and Seviper is a venomous serpent, both sporting color patterns that resemble damage taken from the other, red gashes on Zangoose from Seviper’s red fangs, and purple gashes on Seviper from Zangoose’s claws that had originally been purple (they’ve been recolored to black now for some reason).

Here’s their respective movesets:

Standard B: Slash | Poison Fang

Side B: Fury Swipes | Sludge Bomb

Up B: Swords Dance | Wrap

Down B: False Swipe | Poison Tail

Final Smash: Eternal Enmity

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Slashing, taunting their opponent, snapping, things like that.

Kirby hat: Zangoose’s ears, Seviper’s head as a hat

Kart: The Poke Ball car

Special move: Slash, Poison Bite

Spirit battle: on Mt. Battle, with the other as an ally.

Victory Screen: One standing over the other’s body.

Losing screen: fainted

Color swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Lunatone falls from the sky.

Character Sheet: The Swablu Line

 SWABLU/ALTARIA

Next, we come to Swablu and Altaria, two pretty songbirds the color of the sky with fluffy white clouds for wings. And probably the most inexplicable Dragon typing in all of Pokémon attached to Altaria. I can’t explain it personally, but it’s part of the line’s charm.

Here’s the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Peck > Dragon Breath

Side B: Fury Attack > Sky Attack

Up B: Sing

Down B: Cotton Guard

Final Smash: Heavenly Choir > Mega Altaria

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Singing, swooping around, things like that.

Kirby Hat: the fluffy wings

Kart: Just flying

Special Move: Sing

Spirit Battle: on Sky Pillar

Victory Screen: Flying through the clouds and singing merrily.

Losing screen: Fainted

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Zangoose and Seviper face off!

Character Sheet: The Cacnea Line

 CACNEA/CACTURNE

Next up, we have Cacnea and Cacturne, both based on cactuses. Also, Cacturne is mixed with a scarecrow for some reason. I guess both are seen out in prairies and such, and pretending to be either would help it stalk its prey better. I don’t know.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Spikes

Side B: Bullet Seed > Sucker Punch

Up B: Growth > Sandstorm

Down B: Absorb > Payback

Final Smash: Lurking in the Night

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Posing like a cactus, dancing around, things like that.

Kirby Hat: The crown, and the hat.

Kart: The Poke Ball car.

Special Move: Spikes

Spirit Battle: On Pyrite Colosseum

Victory Screen: Pumping its fist then going back to posing.

Losing Screen: Knocked out with the dizzy eyes.

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Swablu sings in victory.
