Next up, we come to what is probably the most obvious and natural basis for a Fighting/Psychic type combo, we have Meditite and Medicham, based on various types of Eastern monk, including Buddhist and Shaolin, as well as general yoga practitioners.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Psybeam

Side B: Force Palm > Zen Headbutt

Up B: High Jump Kick

Down B: Calm Mind > Counter

Final Smash: One with the Universe > Mega Medicham

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Various yoga poses, practicing its forms, things like that.

ARON/LAIRON/AGGRON

Next up, we come to Pseudo-Legendary vibes in a non-Pseudo-Legendary package. Aron, Lairon, and Aggron are based on kaiju, none specifically in particular that I'm aware of, covered in metal armor that they produce from their own bodies.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Iron Head

Side B: Metal Claw > Iron Tail (II)

Up B: Rock Slide > Heavy Slam (III)

Down B: Protect > Iron Defense (III)

Final Smash: Metal Burst > Mega Aggron (III)

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Munching on rocks, digging around, tucking into its iron shell, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Their metallic helmets.

Kart: The Poke Ball Car

Special Move: Iron Head

Character Sheet: The Skitty Line

SKITTY/DELCATTY

Skipping over our very first standalone of the generation, plus one of our two new evos, we come to Skitty and Delcatty, a line based on cats, specifically of the spoiled rich housecat variety, complete with common cat toys as their tail and neck ruffle respectively. Outside of the main games, they are best known for being one of your few non-starter options in the first Mystery Dungeon games, and for a certain "hot Wailord action" meme spawning from them being one of the more unusual compatible pairs for breeding.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Tail Whip > Charm

Side B: Fury Swipes

Up B: Sing

Down B: Payback > Fake Out

Final Smash: Play Rough

The idea here is that they would grow to gigantic size and then start to play with their opponent as if they were toys.

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Lots of cute kitty things, like the whole "licking the paw to wash the face" thing, and kneading biscuits, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Their ears.

Kart: The Poke Ball Car

MAKUHITA/HARIYAMA

Next up, we have the Makuhita and Hariyama line, our go-to basic Fighting types of the generation, very much based on sumo wrestlers, just cartoonified to look less human. They've only had one add-on to their line over the years, a Future Paradox Pokemon with defibrillators for hands, but we'll cover that later.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Force Palm > Focus Punch

Side B: Arm Thrust

Up B: Whirlwind > Seismic Toss

Down B: Fake Out > Reversal

Final Smash: Headlong Rush

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Doing the whole foot-slam pose thing, taking up various sumo poses, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Makuhita's bow, and Hariyama's . . . head thing.

Kart: The Poke Ball Car

Special Move: Arm Thrust

Spirit Battle: On Mt. Battle

Victory Screen: Doing a standard sumo victory pose.

WHISMUR/LOUDRED/EXPLOUD

And now for, really, the main Pokemon line most people think of when they say there should be a Sound type. Whismur, Loudred, and Exploud are mostly non-descript monsters that don't quite really resemble any kind of specific animal, with body parts resembling microphones, boom boxes, and pipe organs respectively.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Echoed Voice > Roar (II) > Uproar (III)

Side B: Pound > Stomp (II)

Up B: Howl

Down B: Rest > Boomburst (III)

Final Smash: Cacophony Orchestra

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Playing music, dancing around, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Their ears and pipes.

Kart: The Poke Ball Car

Special Move: Uproar

Spirit Battle: On Pokemon Channel

Victory Screen: Dancing around and making music.

Character Sheet: The Nincada Line

NINCADA/NINJASK/SHEDINJA

Next up, we have one of the . . . conceptually coolest Pokemon out there, in terms of the general idea of it, regardless of overall reception. First, we have a line where all members have a different secondary typing, then we also have a line where, if you have an empty space in your party, you get two Pokemon for the price of one when it evolves. Like, that's just a fun concept, you know. They are based on cicadas specifically, with Nincada being the little nymph that hibernates underground for a couple of years, then Ninjask being the fully grown adult, and Shedinja being the shedded shell left behind that came to life on its own. They also have some ninja elements in there.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Scratch > Fury Cutter | Shadow Claw

Side B: Dig > Screech | Confuse Ray

Up B: Sand Attack > Aerial Ace | Snadow Sneak

Down B: Harden > Swords Dance | Harden

Final Smash: Cicada Season

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Making that standard cicada buzzing sound, latching onto the ground, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Their faces as masks.

Kart: The Poke Ball Car

Special Move: Screech

Spirit Battle: On Fiore Temple

Victory Screen: A whole bunch on a tree, making their screeches.

Losing Screen: Knocked out with the dizzy eyes.

Character Sheet: The Slakoth Line

SLAKOTH/VIGOROTH/SLAKING

You know, blog, when it's my birthday, you're supposed to land on my favorite Pokemon, not the Pokemon that looks the most like me. Sheesh. Anyway, Slakoth, Vigoroth, and Slaking are mostly based on sloths, with a bit of wild ape and gorilla thrown in there, their whole gimmick being that they are slow but powerful.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Scratch > Slash (II) > Hammer Arm (III)

Side B: Yawn > Throat Chop (II)

Up B: Headbutt > Mega Kick (III)

Down B: Amnesia > Counter (III)

Final Smash: Slow Down

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Laying down and yawning, snoring a bit, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Their fur as a suit like Donkey Kong's.

Kart: The Poke Ball Car

Special Move: Yawn

Spirit Battle: On Mt. Battle

Victory Screen: Rolling over and going back to sleep.

Losing Screen: Knocked out with the dizzy eyes.
