Character Sheet: Azurill and Wynaut

AZURILL/WYNAUT

And now, we come to our new evos of the generation, specifically only two new baby forms for Pokemon from Gen II. The Marill line gained Azurill, a baby mouse that’s only a Normal type, and Wobbuffet gained Wynaut, with a punny name tied to Wobbuffet’s Japanese name that got lost in translation.

Here is Azurill’s moveset:

Standard B: Splash

Side B: Charm

Up B: Bounce

Down B: Tail Whip

Final Smash: Mega Bounce

And here is Wynaut’s moveset:

Standard B: Counter

Side B: Mirror Coat

Up B: Encore

Down B: Safeguard

Final Smash: Destiny Bond

Entrances would be Poke Balls, taunts would be similar to the rest of their lines, Kirby hats would be the tops of their heads, karts would be the Poke Ball car with Bounce and Counter as their special moves, the spirit battles would probably be on Special Storage (since that’s where I’ve put most of the “cute” ones, they fit Trozei’s vibe), their victory screens would be them bouncing around happily, losing screens are the fainted dizzy eyes, and their color swaps would be their mains and shinies as always.

That’s about it! Next up, Regirock awakens from its slumber!

Character Sheet: All Gen III Standalones

NOSEPASS/SABLEYE/MAWILE/ROSELIA/TORKOAL/SPINDA/CASTFORM/KECLEON/TROPIUS/CHIMECHO/ABSOL/RELICANTH/LUVDISC

And now, let’s go back through Gen 3 and cover all the standalones in one single batch. First, we have Nosepass, based on the Moai from Easter Island, but also on a compass with its nose always pointing north.

Standard B: Rock Throw

Side B: Spark

Up B: Rock Slide

Down B: Harden

Final Smash: True North Magnetic Pull

Next is Sableye, based on a little goblin or gremlin that likes to steal and horde gemstones, to the point that its eyes are gemstones, sort of like heart-eyes in movies.

Standard B: Shadow Claw

Side B: Power Gem

Up B: Shadow Sneak

Down B: Night Shade

Final Smash: Mega Sableye

Then, we have Mawile, based on the futakuchi-onna from Japanese folklore, basically a ghostly woman with a mouth on the back of her head. There’s also a bit of bear trap in there, hence the Steel-typing.

Standard B: Crunch

Side B: Iron Head

Up B: Fairy Wind

Down B: Iron Defense

Final Smash: Mega Mawile

Next is Roselia, based on a rose mixed with a beautiful young maiden, so about what you’d expect from a rose-based Pokemon.

Standard B: Magical Leaf

Side B: Toxic Spikes

Up B: Petal Dance

Down B: Mega Drain

Final Smash: Petal Blizzard

Next up, we have Torkoal, basically a tortoise, but made up of coal and fire. Not much to say here, outside of me just generally loving the derpy little guy.

Standard B: Lava Plume

Side B: Flame Wheel

Up B: Smokescreen

Down B: Iron Defense

Final Smash: Eruption

Then, we have Spinda, a little red panda that is perpetually spinning and dizzy. It also has a unique mechanic going on with its spots in that no two are ever alike.

Standard B: Hypnosis

Side B: Body Slam

Up B: Teeter Dance

Down B: Sucker Punch

Final Smash: Everybody Topsy-Turvy

Next is Castform, a little weather cloud/H2O molecule, that changes forms and typings based on the external weather, including a Fire Sunny Forme, a Water Rainy Forme, and an Ice Snowy Forme.

Standard B: Weather Ball/Ember/Water Gun/Powder Snow

Side B: Rain Dance

Up B: Rain Dance/Sunny Day/Hail

Down B: Change Forme

Final Smash: Hurricane

Then, we have Kecleon, a chameleon. And that’s really about it. It’s kinda the new Snorlax in that it blocks your path in certain areas.

Standard B: Lick

Side B: Fury Swipes

Up B: Shadow Sneak

Down B: Substitute

Final Smash: Invisible Swarm

Next is Tropius, a sauropod dinosaur mixed with a banana tree that is apparently Flying type because of its big banana leaf wings.

Standard B: Leaf Storm

Side B: Air Slash

Up B: Body Slam

Down B: Stomp

Final Smash: Solar Beam

Then, we have Chimecho, a little ceramic wind chime and/or a furin like the ones you hang wishes on during the Japanese summer festival.

Standard B: Heal Bell

Side B: Confusion

Up B: Yawn

Down B: Stored Power

Final Smash: Healing Wish

Next is Absol, a Pokemon that almost feels like a Legendary, a Hot Topic-looking cat creature that can sense when disasters are about to occur, but because it always appears to try and warn humans about it, humans came to view it as a bad omen and the cause of said disasters.

Standard B: Night Slash

Side B: Sucker Punch

Up B: Detect

Down B: Double Team

Final Smash: Mega Absol

Next, we have Relicanth, kind of an honorary fossil Pokemon, based on the coelacanth, a fish long thought extinct until it was discovered in the 1930s.

Standard B: Water Gun

Side B: Head Smash

Up B: Dive

Down B: Ancient Power

Final Smash: Dragged into the Depths

And finally, we have Luvdisc, a sunfish Pokemon shaped like a generic heart. And that’s pretty much it.

Standard B: Water Gun

Side B: Draining Kiss

Up B: Aqua Ring

Down B: Charm

Final Smash: Pokemon Contest Finale

And that’s pretty much it. Entrances would all be the Poke Balls. Taunts would all be based on their general concepts. Kirby Hats would include Nosepass’s nose, Sableye’s eyes, Mawile’s mouth, Roselia’s thorns, Torkoal’s shell, Spinda’s ears and spots, Castform’s cloudy wisps, Kecleon’s fin things, Tropius’s leaf helmet thing, Chimecho’s bell thing, Absol’s hair and scythe, Relicanth’s face, and Luvdisc’s . . . Um, maybe just a heart taped to a bandana? Karts would mostly be the Poke Ball car with their most iconic move, Spirit Battles would be in Gen III locations that most fit their vibes, Victory Screens would be tied to their vibes and Losing Screens would mostly be them fainted (wonder if it should be different for Spinda?), and their color swaps would mostly be their mains and shinies, with other general colors unless there is any notable alternate colors, like that one purple Kecleon.

Thanks for reading! Next up, why not let Azurill and Wynaut join?

Character Sheet: The Beldum Line

BELDUM/METANG/METAGROSS

Next up, we have a second batch of Pseudo-Legendaries, the Metagross line, based on automatons and mechs of various types (when I was young, I thought they were supposed to combine like a megazord, with Metang as the top, Metagross as the legs, and Beldum as a weapon arm, but no one else seems to see it, so . . . ). Either way, they are a very popular line, though famously Beldum can only learn one move across most generations, and most of the time, can’t even learn TMs. So, it will be a Poke Ball Pokemon, with it coming out and using Take Down on the nearest opponent it sees.

Here’s the moveset I came up with for the latter two:

Standard B: Flash Cannon > Hyper Beam

Side B: Metal Claw

Up B: Magnet Rise

Down B: Confusion > Iron Defense

Final Smash: Hyper Beam > Mega Metagross

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Rising into the air, clanking around, beeping, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Their heads as helmets.

Kart: Just flying

Special Move: Take Down

Spirit Battle: On Mt. Battle

Victory Screen: Posing like a robotic mecha from a tokusatsu series.

Losing Screen: Fainted

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, we’ve go back and cover all of our standalones. First, Nosepass points the way!

Monday, July 28, 2025

Character Sheet: The Bagon Line

BAGON/SHELGON/SALAMENCE

Next up, skipping past a couple more fish (because Hoenn had a lot of those), we come to the first of our Pseudo-Legendary lines. Now, technically, I went and did all the standalones before the Pseudos before, but that is because those Pseudos came post-Legendaries for some reason. Here, we’re doing them with the others. Bagon, Shelgon, and Salamence are our standard dragons, with Bagon being a little wingless baby dragon who wishes to fly so hard it goes into a weird cocoon state and comes out with wings.

Here’s the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Dragon Breath > Outrage (III)

Side B: Headbutt > Zen Headbutt (II)

Up B: Dragon Claw > Fly (III)

Down B: Crunch > Protect (II) > Dragon Tail (III)

Final Smash: Outrage > Mega Salamence (III)

Thanks for reading! Next up, Beldum takes down its next opponent!

Saturday, July 26, 2025

Character Sheet: The Clamperl Line

CLAMPERL/HUNTAIL/GOREBYSS

Next up, we come to an odd little line that starts out as a clam (or, I guess, an egg using a clam as a nest?), but then can evolve into one of two sea serpents: Huntail, who is ugly and monstrous-looking but not as bad, or Gorebyss, who is beautiful and majestic but also the true monster between the two in terms of its hunting habits.

Here’s the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Water Gun > Hydro Pump

Side B: Shell Smash > Ice Fang | Draining Kiss

Up B: Whirlpool > Dive

Down B: Iron Defense > Aqua Tail | Amnesia

Special Move: Dive

Spirit Battle: On Battle Frontier

Victory Screen: Leaping into the air and then diving into the deep.

Losing Screen: Fainted.

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Bagon prepares to take flight!

Friday, July 25, 2025

Character Sheet: The Spheal Line

SPHEAL/SEALEO/WALREIN

Next up, we have Spheal, Sealeo, and Walrein, three Pokemon based on seals, sea lions, and walruses respectively, so basically the three most iconic forms of pinnipeds. Sort of a repeat concept from Seel and Dewgong, but I feel this line does it way better. There’s also a bit of beach ball mixed in there, so that’s fun.

Here’s the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Aurora Beam > Ice Fang (III)

Side B: Rollout > Surf (II)

Up B: Powder Snow >  Blizzard (III)

Down B: Rest > Body Slam (II)

Victory Screen: “Orf, orf, orf,” while clapping

Losing Screen: Fainted

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Clamperl clamps down on the competition!

Thursday, July 24, 2025

Character Sheet: The Snorunt Line

SNORUNT/GLALIE

Next up, skipping over three standalones and one new evo, we have Snorunt and Glalie, two Ice type Pokemon based on different types of yokai: the Yukinko for Snorunt, and the Oni masks often worn in Kabuki theater for Glalie. They would later get a female split evolution in Froslass, based on the Yuki-onna, but we’ll cover her later.

Here’s the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Frost Breath > Freeze Dry

Side B: Ice Shard > Crunch

Up B: Powder Snow > Blizzard

Down B: Protect

Final Smash: Blizzard > Mega Glalie

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Shivering, sticking out its tongue, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Their respective “clothes”

Kart: The Poke Ball car

Special Move: Frost Breath

Spirit Battle: On Pyrite Colosseum

Victory Screen: Waggling its tongue to make fun of its opponent.

Losing Screen: Fainted

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Spheal seals your fate!

Wednesday, July 23, 2025

Character Sheet: The Duskull Line

 DUSKULL/DUSCLOPS

Next up, we have Duskull and Dusclops, based on a little grim reaper and the hitotsume-kozou yokai in Japanese folklore respectively, and, alongside their later evolution Dusknoir, have a general vibe of being psychopomps, collectors of souls, that sort of thing.

Here’s the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Hex

Side B: Astonish > Shadow Punch

Up B: Shadow Sneak

Down B: Payback > Gravity

Victory Screen: Dragging its opponent’s soul into itself

Losing Screen: Fainted

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors

Thanks for reading! Snorunt chills the competition!

Tuesday, July 22, 2025

Character Sheet: The Shuppet Line

 SHUPPET/BANETTE

And now, skipping over two standalone gimmick Pokemon, we come to Shuppet and Banette, two ghost types based on haunted dolls. Shuppet specifically pulls from little dolls common to a Japanese festival, as I’m led to understand, whereas Banette pulls from voodoo dolls and generic stuffed toys.

Here’s the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Shadow Ball

Side B: Screech > Sucker Punch

Up B: Shadow Sneak

Down B: Hex > Role Play

Final Smash: Phantom Force > Mega Banette

Entrance: Poke Ball

Special Move: Hex

Color Swaps: Main, Shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Duskull tolls the bell for its next victim.

Monday, July 21, 2025

Character Sheet: Milotic

FEEBAS/MILOTIC

And now, we come to Feebas and Milotic, basically the same general concept as Magikarp and Gyarados all over again, except this time, its ugly to beautiful instead of weak to powerful, with a strong Ugly Duckling vibe to it. As with Magikarp, Feebas only learns three moves naturally across all generations, so it will be a Poke Ball Pokemon too, just flopping around like Magikarp did.

Here’s the moveset I came up with for Milotic:

Standard B: Water Gun

Side B: Surf

Up B: Twister

Down B: Aqua Tail

Final Smash: Beauty Contest Grand Finale

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Lots of contest poses, things like that.

Kirby Hat: The head fin things that look like long hair.

Victory Screen: Basically the winning ceremony for a beauty contest

Losing Screen: Fainted

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors (mostly based on Beauty Contest elements).

Thanks for reading! Next up, Shuppet’s playtime is over!

Saturday, July 19, 2025

Character Sheet: The Hoenn Fossils

LILEEP/CRADILY//ANORITH/ARMALDO

Since I already set the standard of doing all of the Fossil mons together, I guess I’m doing these two lines together as well (I will probably thank myself for that when I get to the Gen 8 fossils). First, we have Lileep and Cradily, based on crinoid fossils; then Anorith and Armaldo, based on anomalocaris fossils.

Here’s the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Acid > Swallow || Bug Bite > Crush Claw

Thanks for reading! Next up, Feebas is ready for its closeup!

Friday, July 18, 2025

Character Sheet: The Baltoy Line

BALTOY/CLAYDOL

Next up, we have Baltoy and Claydol, based on ancient clay figurines like those found in Mesopotamia, but also on children’s toys like the kendama. They are Ground type for their clay bodies, and Psychic for their mystical ancient properties.

Here’s the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Psybeam > Hyper Beam

Side B: Ancient Power

Up B: Rapid Spin > Sandstorm

Losing Screen: Fainted

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors

Thanks for reading! Next up, Lileep rises from the depths.

Thursday, July 17, 2025

Character Sheet: The Corphish Line

CORPHISH/CRAWDAUNT

Next up, we have the Corphish line, based on crayfish mostly with a touch of military vibe going on, especially in Crawdaunt. There’s not really much to say about them from there, outside of Ash notably having one in the anime.

Here’s the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Bubble Beam

Side B: Double Hit > Crabhammer

Up B: Knock Off > Swift

Down B: Protect > Night Slash

Final Smash: Lobster Corps

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Snapping its pincers, standing at the ready, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Their shells

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Baltoy is ready to play!

Wednesday, July 16, 2025

Character Sheet: The Barboach Line

BARBOACH/WHISCASH

Next we come to Barboach and Whiscash, based on a loach and a catfish respectively, both bottom-feeding river dwellers with whiskers that help them locate and stun prey. That’s about all there is to say about them. They’re just kinda here.

Here’s the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Water Gun > Muddy Water

Side B: Mud Slap > Thrash

Up B: Aqua Tail

Thanks for reading! Next up, Corphish claws its way to victory!

Tuesday, July 15, 2025

Character Sheet: Lunatone and Solrock

LUNATONE/SOLROCK

Next, we have Lunatone and Solrock, a pair of meteorite-based Pokémon patterned after the sun and moon respectively, once again designed to be a pair just like Plusle and Minun. They are famously the signature Pokémon of twin gym leaders Tate and Liza. I also felt strongly that they should have been legendaries for the longest time, but I was a dumb kid when I thought that.

Here’s their respective movesets:

Standard B: Moonblast | Flare Blitz

Side B: Rock Throw

Up B: Cosmic Power

Down B: Explosion

Final Smash: Lunar Meteor Storm | Solar Meteor Storm

Entrance: Poke Ball

Losing screen: fainted

Color swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Barboach lurks just below the surface.

Monday, July 14, 2025

Character Sheet: Zangoose and Seviper

ZANGOOSE/SEVIPER

Next up, we have a pair designed around each other, but instead of companions like Plusle and Minun, these two are mortal enemies. Zangoose is a wild and rabid mongoose, and Seviper is a venomous serpent, both sporting color patterns that resemble damage taken from the other, red gashes on Zangoose from Seviper’s red fangs, and purple gashes on Seviper from Zangoose’s claws that had originally been purple (they’ve been recolored to black now for some reason).

Here’s their respective movesets:

Standard B: Slash | Poison Fang

Side B: Fury Swipes | Sludge Bomb

Up B: Swords Dance | Wrap

Down B: False Swipe | Poison Tail

Final Smash: Eternal Enmity

Color swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Lunatone falls from the sky.

Saturday, July 12, 2025

Character Sheet: The Swablu Line

 SWABLU/ALTARIA

Next, we come to Swablu and Altaria, two pretty songbirds the color of the sky with fluffy white clouds for wings. And probably the most inexplicable Dragon typing in all of Pokémon attached to Altaria. I can’t explain it personally, but it’s part of the line’s charm.

Here’s the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Peck > Dragon Breath

Side B: Fury Attack > Sky Attack

Up B: Sing

Down B: Cotton Guard

Thanks for reading! Next up, Zangoose and Seviper face off!

Friday, July 11, 2025

Character Sheet: The Cacnea Line

 CACNEA/CACTURNE

Next up, we have Cacnea and Cacturne, both based on cactuses. Also, Cacturne is mixed with a scarecrow for some reason. I guess both are seen out in prairies and such, and pretending to be either would help it stalk its prey better. I don’t know.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Spikes

Side B: Bullet Seed > Sucker Punch

Up B: Growth > Sandstorm

Down B: Absorb > Payback

Final Smash: Lurking in the Night

Thanks for reading! Next up, Swablu sings in victory.

Thursday, July 10, 2025

Character Sheet: The Trapinch Line

TRAPINCH/VIBRAVA/FLYGON

Next up, skipping over Spinda, we have a very popular line based on antlions, complete with their distinct larval form that looks nothing like their dragonfly-like adult form. They are Ground/Dragon for some reason, despite being obviously bugs, but it works either way.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Crunch > Supersonic (II) > Dragon Breath (III)

Side B: Bulldoze > Dragon Tail (II)

Up B: Sand Attack > Sandstorm (II)

Down B: Sand Tomb > Earthquake (III)

Final Smash: Giant Antlion Pit

Thanks for reading! Next up, Cacnea stalks its prey!

Wednesday, July 9, 2025

Character Sheet: The Spoink Line

SPOINK/GRUMPIG

Skipping over Torkoal, we now come to Spoink and Grumpig, a literal representation of the whole "pearls before swine" idiom. Spoink has probably one of the most silly and whimsical designs in all of Pokemon with its springy tail and everything, while Grumpig is . . . just a pig. Yeah, it's a little disappointing.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Psybeam

Side B: Power Gem > Zen Headbutt

Up B: Bounce

Down B: Rest > Snore

Final Smash: Ultimate Power Gem

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Bouncing up and down happily, rolling in mud, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Their pearls and spring tails.

Kart: The Poke Ball car.

Special Move: Bounce

Spirit Battle: On Secret Storage

Victory Screen: Bouncing up and down happily.

Losing Screen: Knocked out with the dizzy eyes.

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Trapinch lies in wait.

Tuesday, July 8, 2025

Character Sheet: The Numel Line

NUMEL/CAMERUPT

Numel and Camerupt are one of the more notable Fire types of the generation, and I believe the first Fire/Ground combo. They are camels with the clever twist that the humps on their back are volcanoes filled with lava instead of water. Numel's hasn't erupted yet, so the lava keeps it warm and numb.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Ember > Incinerate

Side B: Bulldoze

Up B: Lava Plume

Down B: Amnesia > Earth Power

Final Smash: Volcanic Eruption > Mega Camerupt

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Chewing on grass, puffing out smoke, things like that.

Kirby Hat: The green on Numel's back, then the volcanoes on Camerupt's.

Kart: The Poke Ball car.

Special Move: Lava Plume.

Spirit Battle: On Mt. Chimney, for obvious reasons.

Victory Screen: Shaking itself and going back to grazing.

Losing Screen: Knocked out with the dizzy eyes.

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Spoink bounces into battle.

Monday, July 7, 2025

Character Sheet: The Wailmer Line

WAILMER/WAILORD

Next up, we have the Wailmer and Wailord lines, pretty obviously based on whales, specifically blue whales, and mixed with beach balls and flotation devices. Basically, fun, safe water things, contrasting with the Carvanha line's piranhas, sharks, mines, and torpedoes. It's also one of the largest Pokemon out there, I believe, and the other half of a notable Skitty breeding meme.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Water Gun > Hydro Pump

Side B: Whirlpool > Water Spout

Up B: Body Slam

Down B: Dive

Final Smash: Tidal Wave

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Floating around, spouting water, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Like a Wailmer with Kirby hands and feet.

Kart: A Pokemon submarine.

Special Move: Dive.

Spirit Battle: On Pokemon Dash

Victory Screen: Breeching as a boat of tourists snaps pictures.

Losing Screen: Knocked out with the dizzy eyes.

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Numel erupts into battle.

Saturday, July 5, 2025

Character Sheet: The Carvanha Line

CARVANHA/SHARPEDO

Now, we come to Carvanha and Sharpedo, which are pretty basic in their theming, based on a piranha and shark respectively, so basically, the go-to scary fish. They are mixed with an undersea mine and a torpedo as well, really just upping the whole "water danger" concept.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Bite > Crunch

Side B: Poison Fang > Night Slash

Up B: Aqua Jet

Down B: Scary Face > Liquidation

Final Smash: What Lurks Beneath > Mega Sharpedo

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Chomping around, swimming around while eerie music plays, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Their fins.

Kart: The Poke Ball Car

Special Move: Aqua Jet

Spirit Battle: On Battle Frontier

Victory Screen: Pulling their opponent under, then swimming away with only their fin showing.

Losing Screen: Knocked out with the dizzy eyes.

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Wailmer floats to the top.

Friday, July 4, 2025

Character Sheet: The Gulpin Line

GULPIN/SWALOT

Skipping over Roselia for now, we come to Gulpin and Swalot. I feel like there's an easy joke to be had about this line landing on the Fourth of July (something something, bag of vomit, something something, current state of American politics), but I can't be arsed to make it. Anyway, Gulpin and Swalot are, as far as I can tell, based on specific bodily organs. I think I watched a video once where Lockstin & Gnoggin pointed out which ones in particular, but I don't remember which.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Sludge > Sludge Bomb

Side B: Acid Spray

Up B: Poison Gas > Body Slam

Down B: Yawn > Belch

Final Smash: Sludge Explosion

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Wobbling around, burping, other sorts of things.

Kirby Hat: Their yellow head feather things

Kart: The Poke Ball Car

Special Move: Sludge

Character Sheet: Volbeat & Illumise

VOLBEAT & ILLUMISE

And here we have another pair of standalones clearly designed to show off the double battle mechanic introduced in this generation. This duo are based on fireflies, one male and one female, probably based on the general romantic connotations of a couple dancing in the moonlight with fireflies all around them. You know, that kind of trope. I think I'll have them be an Ice Climbers-style tag team as well, with them performing a dance as they move.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Zen Headbutt

Side B: Moonlight

Up B: Bug Buzz

Down B: Double Team

Final Smash: Dancing in the Moonlight

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Performing a waltz, one dipping the other, other such things.

Kirby Hat: Their neck ruffles

Kart: The Poke Ball Car

Special Move: Double Team

Spirit Battle: On Pokemon Channel

Victory Screen: Building up to the big romantic kiss as the camera cuts away.

Losing Screen: Knocked out with the dizzy eyes.

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Character Sheet: Plusle & Minun

PLUSLE & MINUN

Next up, we have technically two standalones, but I have established I will do them together if they are part of a set. And Plusle and Minun very much are. They are the first true examples of Pikachu clones, a series standard from here. Pichu was kinda the Pikachu clone of Gen II, but it was also part of the evolution line, so . . . Plusle and Minun are a pair of Pokemon, very Pikachu-like with general rodent/rabbit traits, but represent positive and negative charges respectively, and almost exist entirely to demonstrate the new double battle mechanic of the third generation. As such, they will be a tag team, like Ice Climbers.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Spark

Side B: Nuzzle

Up B: Switcheroo

Down B: Discharge

Final Smash: Electric Cheer Routine

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: High fiving each other, making sparks fly around them, doing a little dance, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Their ears.

Kart: The Poke Ball Car

Special Move: Nuzzle

Spirit Battle: On Fiore Temple

Victory Screen: High fiving as electric fireworks flash behind them.

Losing Screen: Knocked out with the dizzy eyes.

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Volbeat and Illumise dance through the night sky.

Character Sheet: The Electrike Line

ELECTRIKE/MANECTRIC

And now, we come to two of the only four Electric types in all of Gen III (seriously, how Gen IV gets so much flack for its lack of Fire types, but Gen III doesn't for this, I'll never know). Electrike and Manectric are based mostly on dogs, with a little bit of maned wolf worked into Manectric's design.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Thunder Fang

Side B: Quick Attack > Wild Charge

Up B: Howl

Down B: Thunder Wave > Electric Terrain

Final Smash: Lightning Storm > Mega Manectric

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Chasing its tail, sitting, howling at the moon, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Their electric head fur.

Kart: The Poke Ball Car

Special Move: Electric Terrain

Spirit Battle: On Pokemon Dash

Victory Screen: Bouncing around and then sitting like a good boy.

Losing Screen: Knocked out with the dizzy eyes.

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, three cheers for Plusle & Minun!
