Today, let's do a quick go over of most of Mario's major extra-Mario-series appearances. Within Nintendo itself, we obviously have the entire Super Smash Bros. series, with Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, and Yoshi appearing in the first game, Peach, Bowser, and Dr. Mario joining in the second, Wario and Diddy Kong in the third, Rosalina and Bowser Jr. in the fourth game, and lastly Daisy, King K. Rool, and Piranha Plant in the fifth. Nintendo Land also has several games based on the Mario, Donkey Kong, and Yoshi series, Captain Rainbow featured cameos here and there, and one of the Punch-Out!! games featured Donkey Kong as the final boss. Outside of Nintendo, Mario guest starred weirdly in two games you . . . probably wouldn't expect him in. One is NBA Street V3, a basketball game starring lots of real-world players, and the other is SSX on Tour, a snowboarding game seemingly more or less in the same vein, both produced by EA Sports. Why those two specifically, I may never know, but there it is.
