Character Sheet: The Koopalings (New Series)

THE KOOPALINGS

Settle in, folks, we've got a lot of revisions to get through for this one. The "New" series featured most of the series favorites, almost all of which have been included here already and most of them brought at least something new to the table. In fact, we only have four new characters to include this time. They are:

1. Mario (Revision 4)
2. Luigi (Revision 3)
3. Koopa Troopa (Revision 3)
3e. Dry Bones (Revision 2)
4. Goomba (Revision 3)
5. Piranha Plant (Revision 3)
6. Boo (Revision 3)
8. Princess Peach (Revision 2)
9. Toad (Revision 2)
10. Yoshi (Revision 2)
11. Bowser (Revision 2)
13. Lakitu & Spinies (Revision 2)
14. Hammer Bro (Revision 2)
15. Chargin' Chuck (Revision 2)
16. Kamek (Name change, Revision 2)
20. The Koopalings (Revision 1)
22. Boom Boom (Revision 1)
25. Rosalina & Luma (Revision 1)
27. Bowser Jr. (Revision 1)
30. Blooper (Revision 1)
31. Monty Mole (Revision 1)
33. Petey Piranha (Revision 1)
11e. Dry Bowser
22e. Pom Pom
39. Fursuit Mario
40. Sprixie Princess

Today, let's revisit the Koopalings for the first time since their original consideration. All seven appeared as bosses in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, New Super Mario Bros. 2, and New Super Mario Bros. U, each one having their own specific fighting style, though with many of the same basic features. I think they almost came close this time around to becoming their own individual characters, which was a surprise, but I don't think they quite made it there.

All seven of them were shown with the ability to jump around, cast spells, and tuck into their shells after being struck. They also traveled together in a giant Koopa Klown Kar during New 2, using an attack to flash and stun Mario at a certain point. As for the individuals: Larry had a fight across moving platforms and another over high-powered water jets; Morton could slam down, throw spike balls, and use a giant hammer; Wendy created her iconic ring, could raise water and summon Cheep Cheeps, and ice skate; Iggy was pulled around by a Chain Chomp and could summon a Magmaargh; Roy traveled through pipes, and could charge and use a bullet bill cannon; Lemmy would ride balls and throw bombs as he always has; and Ludwig could float in the air, dangle from chains, and create doubles of himself. As I said, most of these were moves used before, made use of another enemy that is not inherently tied to them (though still can be considered), or is more of a standard move rather than a special. The two entirely new items are Morton's hammer and Roy's Bullet Bill cannon, but I still have a lot to work with and consider.

Here is the moveset now:

Standard B: Magic Spell OR Magic Ring
We could keep the standard spell move as the iconic standard B, but we could also use Wendy's ring that she's known for throwing that then bounces around the stage.

Side B: Bullet Bill Blaster
This one is based on Roy's move from New Super Mario Bros. U, where he whips out a bullet bill cannon and fires one off as a high-powered projectile.

Up B: Bouncy Ball
The Koopalings will bounce off one of Lemmy's bouncy balls, bounding into the air and leaving the ball behind to bounce around the stage for a few seconds or so.

Down B: Giant Hammer
The Koopalings will slam down Morton's giant hammer from New Super Mario Bros. U, creating a shockwave and burying anyone caught by it.

Final Smash: Airships
The Koopalings still call in a fleet of airships to rain fire upon the stage.

Entrance: The whole Koopaling crew while descend in their giant Klown Kar, and the one selected by the player will hop off onto the stage.

Taunts: Varies depending on the Koopaling.

Next up: Let's go over Boom Boom one more time.
