Mario Merchandise

MARIO MERCHANDISE

Are you ready? There's only three review posts left until the Mario series is complete! Today, we're going to cover all of the miscellaneous merchandise that's not a toy or a game. Basically, there's a lot. First off, we have a bunch of audio CDs, mostly soundtracks from various games, but a few originals just kinda built around Mario or gaming, like White Knuckle Scorin' from MCA Records. Then we have clothing in basically every article you can think of, from graphic tees, hats (including Cappy of course), shoes (my sister has a pair), jerseys, sweatpants, pajamas, hoodies, coats, halloween costumes, and even underwear. There's also accessories like bracelets and hair clips, school supplies like pencils, notebooks, and folders, phone cases, wallets, tissue boxes, accessories for game systems like custom styluses and game cases. After that we have all kinds of food, like candy, drinks, ice cream, meals like Macaroni & Cheese or SpaghettiO's, snack cakes, and cookies, both from established brands promoting the Mario series at certain points and specially made as part of a limited time thing. This naturally came with specialty kitchenware and dishes too. Finally, we have bathroom items like shampoo and bubble bath, cards of all varieties, a few clocks, a few telephones, mousepads and mice, backpacks, bags, piggy banks, waste baskets, furniture here and there, as well as furnishings to go with them, floor mats, stamps, stickers, sheet music, and a whole slew of other odds and ends over the years. Basically, slap Mario's mug on literally anything, somebody's gonna buy it.

And that's it! Here's what we've got so far:

Possible game board stages

Maybe some of this could be items

Thanks for reading! Now, I wanted to cover the new lines of Lego Mario sets on their own, as they're kind of a big deal in their own way.

Miscellaneous Western Comics

MISCELLANEOUS WESTERN COMICS

Now, let's go through all the rest of the Mario-related western comics that weren't quite notable enough for their own post. We have Bumm-badabum im Urwald, a German comic based on Donkey Kong Country 2; Donkey Kong in When the Banana Splits, a Donkey Kong 64 comic published in Disney Adventures; Track that Treasure, Captain Toad!, a webcomic based on Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker; all comics written to advertise a specific game.

After that, we have Presenting Mario and the Princess in Bubble Baths and Shampoos, a how-to comic for kids; Wario's Warehouse, a short-lived series full of hints and cheats for various games; Mushroom Kingdom Tribune, a newspaper tie-in for Bowser's Inside Story; a small comic that came with the CD "White Knuckle Scorin'"; a planned Archie comics run that ended up being cancelled; the N-Gang comic previously mentioned with cameos from Mario characters here and there; and a small tie-in comic for Skylanders: SuperChargers featuring Bowser and Donkey Kong.
