Character Sheet: The Sinnoh Fossils

CRANIDOS/RAMPARDOS//SHIELDON/BASTIODON

Skipping over the first two of a million new evos this generation, we come to the region's two fossil lines, who are weirdly early in the Dex this time around? Anyway, these two lines are Cranidos and Rampardos, based on pachycephalosaurs; and Shieldon and Bastiodon, based on ceratopsids (specifically protoceratops and chasmosaurus).

Here's the movesets I came up with:

Standard B: Headbutt > Head Smash | Metal Sound

Side B: Rock Smash | Take Down > Iron Head

Up B: Take Down > Ancient Power | Ancient Power > Heavy Slam

Down B: Slam | Iron Defense > Wide Guard

Final Smash: Battering Ram | Castle Walls

Entrance: Resurrected from fossils

Taunts: Shaking its head as if dizzy, things like that; swiping the ground with its foot, shaking its face, things like that.

Kirby Hat: The foreheads; the face shields

Kart: The Poke Ball car

Special Move: Headbutt; Iron Defense

Spirit Battle: On Spear Pillar

Victory Screen: Bashing through a brick wall and cheering; tanking a hit and standing proud.

Losing Screen: Fainted

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Burmy hangs out!

Character Sheet: The Shinx Line

SHINX/LUXIO/LUXRAY

Next up, we have the Shinx line, based primarily on lynxes, but with a bit of lion in there. They are also heavily based on x-rays and x-ray vision, likely based on those big cats being nocturnal predators. They are even colored blue and black, like most x-rays are.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Bite > Wild Charge (III)

Side B: Spark > Discharge (II)

Up B: Thunder Shock > Volt Switch (II)

Down B: Charge > Electric Terrain (III)

Final Smash: Pride in the Night

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Roaring, licking themselves like a cat, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Their manes

Kart: Just running

Special Move: Wild Charge

Spirit Battle: On Ranger Academy

Victory Screen: Roaring atop a hill

Losing Screen: Fainted

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors

Thanks for reading! Next up, Cranidos butts heads with the competition!

Character Sheet: The Kricketot Line

KRICKETOT/KRICKETUNE

And now for the . . . Regional Bugs? I mean, they are the first bugs of the generations, but they don't "vibe" as the Regional Bugs, you know? Well, maybe they do with Ledyba and Ledian, or maybe it's the Burmy and Combee lines later. I don't know. These are all mostly fan designations for recurring trends anyway, I guess. Anywho, Kricketot and Kricketune are based on crickets, most notably on crickets' ability to make musical sounds, combining them with an orchestra conductor and a cello respectively.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Bug Bite

Side B: Tackle > X-Scissor

Up B: Struggle Bug > Bug Buzz

Down B: Growl > Sing

Final Smash: Musical Orchestra

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Strumming a tune, fluttering their wings, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Their heads and antennae

Kart: The Poke Ball car

Special Move: Bug Buzz

Spirit Battle: On Pokemon Contest

Victory Screen: Playing a grand finale

Losing Screen: Fainted

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors

Thanks for reading! Next up, Shinx shines in the darkness.

Wednesday, August 27, 2025

Character Sheet: The Bidoof Line

BIDOOF/BIBAREL

Next up, we come to our regional critters for the generation, Bidoof and Bibarel, based on beavers, whose goofy face and funny name have contributed to it being a meme since its very inception as a character. Most notably, it has led to multiple edits portraying it as a god.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Headbutt > Water Gun

Side B: Rollout

Up B: Take Down > Aqua Jet

Down B: Defense Curl > Amnesia

Final Smash: God Bidoof > God Bibarel (serious option could be it building a dam across the stage)

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Rolling around, chewing on wood, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Its face as a mask.

Kart: The Poke Ball car

Special Move: Rollout

Spirit Battle: Poke Park

Victory Screen: Building itself a dam

Losing Screen: Fainted

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors

Thanks for reading! Next up, Kricketot strikes up the band!

Tuesday, August 26, 2025

Character Sheet: The Starly Line

STARLY/STARAVIA/STARAPTOR

Next up, we come to the Regional Birds of this generation, Starly, Staravia, and Staraptor, based on starlings up to hawks as they evolve. Not much else to say about them, outside of them seeming to be fan favorites of the Regional Birds among the fanbase, at least as far as I can tell. Not sure why though. Maybe it's the combover.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Tackle > Whirlwind (II)

Side B: Quick Attack > Agility (III)

Up B: Wing Attack > Aerial Ace (II)

Down B: Double Team > Take Down (III)

Final Smash: Brave Bird

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Preening its feathers, hopping around, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Their head feathers and beaks

Kart: The Poke Ball car

Special Move: Brave Bird

Spirit Battle: On Great Booker Bridge

Victory Screen: Flying high with a mighty screech

Losing Screen: Fainted

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors

Thanks for reading! Next up, Bidoof ascends to godhood!

Character Sheet: The Piplup Line

PIPLUP/PRINPLUP/EMPOLEON

Next up, let's cover the Water Starters of Gen IV, the Piplup line. These are based primarily on emperor penguins, with a little bit of Napoleon Bonaparte in there, as well as Poseidon's trident, and metal on Empoleon's wings matching the hulls of ice breaker vessels. Also Empoleon has wierd little fingers on the insides of its wings for some reason. I don't get it.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Peck > Metal Claw (II)

Side B: Bubble Beam > Hydro Pump (III)

Up B: Charm > Aqua Jet (III)

Down B: Pound > Brine (II) > Whirlpool (III)

Final Smash: Hydro Pump > Wave Crash (III)

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Bouncing up and down, sliding around, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Their face and beaks

Kart: The Poke Ball car

Special Move: Wave Crash

Spirit Battle: On Temporal Tower

Victory Screen: Bouncing up and down and sliding away.

Losing Screen: Fainted

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Starly takes flight!

Saturday, August 23, 2025

Character Sheet: The Chimchar Line

CHIMCHAR/MONFERNO/INFERNAPE

Next up, we have the Chimchar line, Gen IV's fire starters. They are based on monkeys, or more accurately chimps and mandrills. Even more specifically, they are based on Sun Wukong, the mythical monkey king from Journey to the West. It's kind of a shame their English names are so basic. Surely we could have come up with something more creative, right?

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Ember > Mach Punch (II)

Side B: Fury Swipes > Fire Spin (III)

Up B: Flame Wheel > Acrobatics (III)

Down B: Taunt > Torment (II)

Final Smash: Flare Blitz > Monkey King (III)

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Dancing around like a monkey, scratching its butt, things like that. If it had an iconic pole weapon, I'd make reference to Wukong with that, but no.

Kirby Hat: Donkey Kong style, then Infernape's fire crown

Kart: The Poke Ball car

Special Move: Fire Spin

Spirit Battle: On Poketopia

Victory Screen: Dancing around happily like a monkey.

Losing Screen: Fainted

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors

Thanks for reading! Next up, I choose you, Piplup!

Friday, August 22, 2025

Character Sheet: The Turtwig Line

TURTWIG/GROTLE/TORTERRA

And now, let us begin our run of Generation IV Pokemon, which will be relatively short, mostly due to the general small size of the generation, but also the overwhelming number of added evolutions to old lines. First up, we have our Grass starters for the generation, Turtwig, Grotle, and Torterra, very much based on the myth of the World Turtle, Torterra even carrying a land mass on its back. I will say, there does seem to be a bit of ankylosaur tossed in there as well, especially in Grotle.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Razor Leaf > Leaf Storm (III)

Side B: Tackle > Bite (II) > Headlong Rush (III)

Up B: Absorb > Mega Drain > Giga Drain (III)

Down B: Withdraw

Final Smash: Leaf Storm > Continental Titan (III)

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Yawning, chomping on leaves, tucking into its shell, so on.

Kirby Hat: Their respective shells

Kart: The Poke Ball car

Special Move: Leaf Storm

Spirit Battle: On Poke Park

Victory Screen: Jumping around happily and causing earthquakes.

Losing Screen: Fainted

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, I choose you, Chimchar!

Character Sheet: Evil Team

EVIL TEAM

And now, for the only non-Dex addition of this generation. Across almost all Pokemon games, there is an evil team that acts as the main antagonists for the game, for varying reasons. For the most part, they've been fine as part of the Trainer System, but now, thanks to little additions from the evil teams of the Ranger and Colosseum games, I think we have just enough to get by.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Snagem

They will throw out a Poke Ball and steal their opponent, similar to moves from other non-Dex Pokemon characters. The opponents will be under the Evil Team's control for a short time after being caught, though.

Side B: Stolen Pokemon

They will send out one of the standard "evil team" Pokemon to attack. Probably a poison type, so they will inflict poison damage.

Up B: UFO

The personal flying machines of the Pokemon Pinchers will appear and the Team will fly away on them.

Down B: Gigaremo

They will set down the control devices of Team Dim Sun, causing an area of effect where all players in the area will become confused.

Final Smash: Ultimate Weapon

They will activate the ultimate weapon from Pokemon X and Y, firing it off into the sky before it comes back down and annihilates everything.

Entrance: They will burst out of a hiding spot with their theme playing.

Taunts: Various poses that the different teams will use in different games.

Kirby Hat: The Team Rocket hat with the R

Kart: A limo with a big red R on the side

Special Move: Snagem

Spirit Battle: On Saffron City

Victory Screen: Looking smug with the team's logo behind their backs.

Losing Screen: Their defeated poses from the games.

Color Swaps: Standard grunt appearances for Rocket, Aqua, Magma, Galactic, Plasma, Flare, Skull, Aether Foundation, Yell, Star, Snagem, Cipher, Go-Rock, Dim Sun, Pinchers, and Rainbow Rocket. And any others I may have missed.

Thanks for reading! Now, let's start on the Dex for Gen IV. First up, I choose you, Turtwig!

Other Gen IV Games

OTHER GEN IV GAMES

And now let's go over the list of random smaller games that came out during the Gen IV era. First, we have a children's educational game in Intellectual Training Drill Pokemon Diamond & Pearl: Letter and Number Intelligence Game. Then we have Pokemon Battrio, an arcade game based on the Stadium games. Then, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Adventure Squad!, a WiiWare game based on the Mystery Dungeon series. Then, Pokemon Diamond & Pearl: Search for Pokemon! Adventure in the Maze, another children's edutainment game. And then we have a very early version of Pokemon Card Game Online, that would release in full during Gen V. Also worth noting is that during this time, Super Smash Bros. Brawl came out, adding Pokemon Trainer and Lucario to the roster, with new stages including Pokemon Stadium 2 and Spear Pillar pulled straight from Diamond & Pearl's plot.

And that's about it! Here's what we've got so far:

Pokemon Ranger: Guardian Signs

POKEMON RANGER: GUARDIAN SIGNS

And coming in last for our major Gen IV games, we have the final game of the Pokemon Ranger series, Guardian Signs. This time, you play as one of two experienced Rangers, Ben or Summer, sent to stop a group called the Pokemon Pinchers who are after a Legendary Pokemon. After an opening battle, the player gets knocked off their Flying Pokemon and washes up on an island in a region called Oblivia. They then set out with a companion Pichu carrying a ukulele to complete their quest.

Major characters that appear here include Ben and Summer, your protagonists; returning characters Murph and Professor Hastings; a helpful family made up of Rand, Leanne, and Nema; an old man who helps you named Booker; the Pokemon Pinchers, with admins named Red Eyes, Blue Eyes, and Purple Eyes; their secret leaders, the Societea, made up of four older characters from the game; and a handful of characters from the distant past, including a group of knights called the Steelheads. The Go-Rock Quads also appear here once again.

The game takes place on an archipelago of islands that make up Oblivia. These islands include Dolce, Renbow, Mitonga, Faldera, Sophian, Layuda, and Tilikule Island. A submarine controlled by the Pokemon Pinchers and the mythical Sky Fortress also play a large part in the story.

PokePark Wii: Pikachu’s Adventure

POKEPARK WII: PIKACHU’S ADVENTURE

Next up, we have the first PokePark game, a sort of spiritual sequel to Hey You, Pikachu! and Pokemon Channel, in that you control a Pikachu who runs around completing little tasks and mini games, while interacting with other Pokemon, except that the human element has all but been removed. The game takes place in the titular PokePark, with separate sections including Meadow Zone, Beach Zone, Iceberg Zone, Cavern Zone, Lava Zone, Haunted Zone, Granite Zone, Flower Zone, and the Sky Pavilion. You start as Pikachu but can gather more Pokemon to help you along the way, with your goal to collect Sky Prism pieces from each game and attraction.

Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver

POKEMON HEARTGOLD AND SOULSILVER

Next, let’s cover our Gen II remakes, taking us back to Johto with all of its core concepts and characters. There are a few changes of note. First, instead of Kris, we have a new female protagonist for some reason named Lyra. Then the games made up for their lack of a central villain by adding in four Team Rocket Admins: Archer, Ariana, Proton, and Petrel. They’re not memorable by any means, but hey, they exist. We also added in a Safari Zone in the mountains beyond Cianwood, a bonus area called Sinjoh Ruins where you can battle Arceus, and a Battle Frontier, with all of the Sinnoh Frontier Brains returning. And that’s about it really.

Pokemon Rumble

POKEMON RUMBLE

Next up, we have Pokemon Rumble, a WiiWare game where you can play as a little windup toy version of various Pokemon, competing in big arenas against a ton of other toys bumping into each other with basic moves in order to be the last Pokemon standing. You gain new Pokemon options by defeating them in battle. I think the toys would work best as possibly a skin for all the various Pokemon, but as a standard character of their own, maybe with the little trampolines they use to get to the next level and their basic moves? Maybe the later games will add more. As for stages, we have basic levels in Silent Forest, Windy Prairie, Rocky Cave, Fiery Furnace, Bright Beach, and Eternal Tower, with the rumble arenas as the places where all fighting takes place.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky

POKEMON MYSTERY DUNGEON: EXPLORERS OF SKY

Now, let’s cover Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, an enhanced version of Explorers of Time and Darkness, similar to Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, and Platinum for the mainline games. The story and gameplay is mostly the same as its predecessors, except that you can now play as Phanpy, Riolu, Shinx, Eevee, and Vulpix as your player alongside the others from before. You also have a few new post-game stories, including one about Wigglytuff’s adventures as a child, one about what happened to Grovyle after he went back to his time, and a story where you travel to Sky Mountain and meet Shaymin, hence the “Sky” part of the title. That’s about it really.

Pokemon Platinum

POKEMON PLATINUM

Now, for the third game in the Sinnoh Region, Pokemon Platinum is largely the same as Diamond and Pearl, just like Emerald, Crystal, and Yellow before it. There are a few slight adjustments, like a vastly improved regional Pokédex and Fantina being moved to the third gym leader slot above Maylene and Crasher Wake for some reason. New major characters include Charon, a scientist working for Team Galactic who acts as the post-game villain, and Looker, a Columbo/Tenth Doctor-inspired detective who becomes the Pokemon Company’s favorite post-game character for four generations. Sadly, neither of them have any major battles or known teams, so I’m a little torn on whether to include them or not in the Trainer System. I can’t just rely on the starter trio like I can for the professors, but it also feels weird to exclude them. Do you know what I mean?

New areas include the Distortion World, the world where Giratina lives, where everything is upside down and topsy-turbo, and a Battle Frontier has been added in the place of Battle Park. The Frontier Brains this time include Barry’s father Palmer, Thorton, Dahlia, Darach (butler of Gen V Elite Four Caitlin), and Argenta. And really, I think that’s about all that we need to cover this time.

Here’s what we’ve got so far:

My Pokémon Ranch

MY POKÉMON RANCH

There’s really not a ton to say about My Pokémon Ranch. It’s basically a Gen IV version of Pokémon Box, where you can transfer all of your Pokémon from Diamond and Pearl to be stored, except it presents it all in the context of a ranch run by a girl named Hayley, and all the Pokémon are weird chibi models like those we’d start seeing in the Rumble games. That’s about it, really.

Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia

POKEMON RANGER: SHADOWS OF ALMIA

Next up, let’s cover the sequel to Pokemon Ranger with, once again, the most well-regarded entry in its entire series. Also for good reason. This was pretty great. Once again you start out as a ranger, Kellyn or Kate this time, but this one starts you out as a student at Ranger School, where you learn and train to be a ranger before graduating and being assigned to a specific sector. Most of the gameplay is relatively the same as the first game, but with the ranger organization more fleshed out, with Ranger, Support, and Operator classes, though you can only be a ranger.

At the school, things are very “Hogwarts-coded,” if you will, with a Ron and Hermione duo of close friends in Keith and Rhythmi, a mean, secretive Snape-like teacher in Mr. Kincaid, and a snooty blonde kid named Isaac. There’s also the principal, Mr. Lamont, and a nice teacher in Ms. April. Outside of the school, major Rangers include the returning Professor Hastings and Murph, as well as the head of the Ranger Union Erma, and fellow rangers Barlow, Crawford, Luana, Ollie, Elaine, Wendy, Sven, Linda, and Marcus.

The villains this time are a team called Team Dim Sun, of which Kincaid from the school is a member. Notable other members include their leader Blake Hall, his sycophant Wheeler, and his trio of admins called the Sinis Trio, made up of Ice, Lavana, and Heath. Other notable characters include Blake’s father Brighton Hall, the player’s family, Isaac’s sister Melody, and the notable civilian couple Big Bertha and Little Tim. Also the Go-Rock Quads appear in this game but they’ve become a full time musical group.

As for stages within the game, we of course have the Ranger School, plus notable cities including Chicole Village, Vientown, Pueltown, Shiver Camp, Haruba Village, and Boyleland. Other notable landmarks include Vien Forest, Hippowdon Temple, Crysta Cave, Volcano Cave, Nabiki Beach, Marine Cave, Chroma Road, Chroma Highlands, Chroma Ruins, Hia Valley, Ice Lake, Almia Castle, Cargo Ship, Peril Cliffs, Union Road, Altru Park, Altru Building, Altru Tower, Chicole Path, Partner Farm, Haruba Desert, Oil Field Hideout, Sea of Wailord, Puel Sea, and the Ranger Union.

I think that covers almost everything we need, so here’s what we’ve got so far:

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness

POKEMON MYSTERY DUNGEON: EXPLORERS OF TIME AND DARKNESS

Next up, let’s cover Pokemon Mystery Dungeon’s sequel, Explorers of Time and Darkness, widely considered to be the best of the entire series (at least the third version we’ll cover later), and I tend to agree. It is pretty peak. As always, you play as a human who has been turned into a Pokemon, your options this time including Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pikachu, Meowth, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, Skitty, Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, and Munchlax.

In this game, you wake up on a beach with no memory, and are befriended by your partner Pokemon, as always the heart and soul of these games, who can be Pikachu or any of the twelve starter Pokemon, as long as they are a different type from you. Together, you join up with an Explorer’s Guild, who make up the bulk of your supporting cast, including: The old, wise, and partially senile leader Wigglytuff, his stuffy assistant Chatot, and a Loudred, Diglett, Dugtrio, Chimecho, Croagunk, Sunflora, Corphish, and Bidoof. There are also a few other Explorer Teams that come by, most notably Team Skull, a group of bullies made up of Skuntank, Koffing, and Zubat.

The plot, as you come to find out, has to do with a devastating event in the future that freezes the world in time and reduces it to a barren wasteland. You and your partner Grovyle had traveled back in time thanks to your friend Celebi to try and stop it from happening only for something to go wrong. Dusknoir appears as a supposed ally, but turns out to be the “T-1000” of this story sent to stop you. Dialga had been corrupted and was the “main villain” of sorts for most of the story, though Darkrai is revealed to have been a major part of it in the post-game, and the person responsible for your transformation.

As all of these are basically just Pokemon, and play as the Pokemon do, they’ll just be covered in the standard posts, but I did enjoy talking about them. As for the stages, we of course have Wigglytuff’s Guild and Treasure Town as the main hubs, and then Luminous Spring, Beach Cave, Drenched Bluff, Mt. Bristle, Waterfall Cave, Apple Woods, Mt. Horn, Foggy Forest, Steam Cave, Amp Plains, Quicksand Cave, Crystal Crossing, Chasm Cave, Dark Hill, Sealed Ruins, Treeshroud Forest, Brine Cave, Hidden Land, Temporal Tower, Mystifying Forest, Blizzard Island, Crevice Cave, Aegis Cave, Mt. Pokemon Battle Revolution

 POKEMON BATTLE REVOLUTION

Now, let’s move on to Pokemon Battle Revolution, a new console game in the same vein as the Pokemon Stadium games, where you can transfer your Pokemon over and just have them battle each other in full 3D graphics. You play as Nate or Cyndy, who are visiting a big Pokemon-battling theme park called Poketopia. Poketopia has a number of colosseums where you can battle, including the Gateway, Main Street, Waterfall, Neon, Crystal, Sunny Park, Magma, Sunset, Courtyard, Stargazer, and Lagoon Colosseums. Each one of these as a Colosseum leader, including Joe, Taylor, Marina, Rosie, Voldon, Sashay, Terrell, Dusty, Kruger, and Mysterial.

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl

 POKEMON DIAMOND AND PEARL

And now, we come to Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, the beginning of the fourth generation of the franchise, originally designed as something of a finale for the series, before they ultimately decided to keep going. These games were based in Sinnoh, based on the real world island of Hokkaido.

Your main character this time is Lucas or Dawn, with the other acting as an assistant to Professor Rowan, who is the game’s resident professor. Barry, your next-door neighbor with an extreme case of hyperactivity, acts as your rival. Your mom is also the most active she has ever been in the series, with a job as one of the head judges of the Pokemon beauty contests you can participate in.

Sinnoh has a standard Pokemon league, with your eight gym leaders being: Roark (Rock), Gardenia (Grass), Maylene (Fighting), Crasher Wake (Water), Fantina (Ghost), Byron (Steel), Candice (Ice), and Volkner (Electric). The Elite Four include Aaron (Bug), Bertha (Ground), Flint (Fire), and Lucian (Psychic), topped off with probably the most famous Champion of them all, Cynthia.

The main villains are Team Galactic, a sci-fi themed group of nihilists who plan to summon the Pokemon gods of space and time and use them to wipe out the entire universe and recreate in their image. Bit of a jump from Yakuza members and environmental extremists who don’t think things through, but I’ll take it. Their leader is Cyrus, and his three admins are Mars, Saturn, and Jupiter.

One more set of characters worth mentioning are your travel companions, a set of five characters who will join you as you travel through a specific area and act as your doubles partner for any battles you come across. These include Cheryl, Mira, Riley, Marley, and Buck.

Across the Sinnoh region, the cities and towns include Twinleaf Town, Sandgem Town, Jubilife City, Oreburgh City, Floaroma Town, Eterna City, Hearthome City, Solaceon Town, Veilstone City, Pastoria City, Celestic Town, Canalave City, Snowpoint City, Sunyshore City, and the Pokemon League. Notable landmarks include the Hotel Grand Lake, Pal Park, Eterna Forest, Mount Coronet with Spear Pillar on top, the Battle Zone, Stark Mountain, the Old Chateau, the Great Marsh, Lake Verity, Lake Valor, and Lake Acuity, the Underground, and Iron Island.

And that’s about everything we need for now. Let’s see what we’ve got:

Character Sheet: Jirachi and Deoxys

JIRACHI/DEOXYS

And now, let’s finish off our Gen III Pokédex with our two Mythicals, Jirachi and Deoxys. Jirachi is a little wishing star mixed with those little wish tag things from Japanese culture, with a third eye on its belly that grants wishes. Deoxys is an alien virus from outer space based on a DNA strand, that changes forms in order to switch its stats around.

Here’s the movesets I came up with:

Standard B: Psychic | Hyper Beam

Side B: Zen Headbutt | Wrap

Up B: Cosmic Power | Psycho Boost

Down B: Healing Wish | Skill Swap

Final Smash: Doom Desire | Meteor Impact (the meteor from the ORAS post-game specifically)

Entrance: Both falling from the sky, ironically enough.

Taunts: Jirachi snoozing, dancing around playfully, things like that. Deoxys stretching its limbs, flying around, and so on.

Kirby Hat: Jirachi’s star, Deoxys’s face.

Kart: Just flying

Special Move: Doom Desire, Skill Swap

Spirit Battle: Ranger Team Base, Sky Pillar

Victory Screen: Jirachi making a wish for a party, Deoxys flying back into the sky.

Losing Screen: Fainted

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Now, let’s update the trainer system.

Character Sheet: The Weather Trio

KYOGRE/GROUDON/RAYQUAZA

And finally, we come to the main box Legendaries of Gen III, three powerful Pokemon with absolute domain over the sea, land, and sky respectively. Kyogre and Groudon were sought after by Team Aqua and Team Magma to further their goals, but upon being awoken, the pair started to rampage, their eternal hatred for each other leading to a battle that threatened to destroy the world, until you, the player, manage to summon Rayquaza down from the stratosphere in order to mediate between the pair.

Here’s the movesets I came up with for each:

Standard B: Hydro Pump | Fire Blast | Dragon Pulse

Side B: Aqua Tail | Precipice Blades | Extreme Speed

Up B: Ancient Power | Eruption | Dragon Ascent

Down B: Sheer Cold | Earthquake | Hurricane

Final Smash: Primal Kyogre | Primal Groudon | Mega Rayquaza

Entrance: Being awoken by their respective orb, or descending from the clouds.

Taunts: Roaring, presenting their orbs, things like that.

Kirby Hat: The tops of their heads mostly.

Kart: Just them rampaging on their own.

Special Move: Hydro Pump, Earthquake, Dragon Ascent

Spirit Battle: 100% Sky Pillar. That’s practically what I picked the stage for.

Victory Screen: Kyogre flooding the whole world, Groudon drying up the seas, or Rayquaza sending them both back to sleep.

Losing Screen: Fainted.

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Character Sheet: Latias and Latios

LATIAS/LATIOS

Latias and Latios are two more Legendaries of Gen III, a pair of friendly dragons mixed with fighter jets that like to race around the world and act as the “traveling” legendaries of the generation. Latias is also notable for, um, being a potential love interest of Ash Ketchum.

Here’s the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Dragon Pulse

Side B: Psychic

Up B: Tailwind

Down B: Heal Pulse

Final Smash: Mega Latias | Mega Latios

Entrance: Racing in at top speed

Taunts: Pulling off an aerial maneuver, waving happily, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Their head things that look like cockpits.

Kart: Just flying

Special Move: Tailwind

Spirit Battle: On Sky Pillar

Victory Screen: Performing a big finale move from an air show

Losing Screen: Fainted

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors

Thanks for reading! Next up, Kyogre rises from the deep!

Character Sheet: The Regis

REGIROCK/REGICE/REGISTEEL

And now for our first set of Legendaries, a trio of ancient golems made from different elements, all slumbering inside ancient tombs until you can work out the riddles of each and awaken them. They’d later gain a creator in Gen IV and two new siblings in Gen VIII, but we’ll cover them later.

Here’s the movesets I came up with:

Standard B: Rock Throw | Ice Beam | Flash Cannon

Side B: Stone Edge | Bulldoze | Metal Claw

Up B: Ancient Power | Blizzard | Heavy Slam

Down B: Iron Defense | Stomp | Iron Defense

Final Smash: Power of the Giants

Entrance: Awakening from their statues

Taunts: “Un un un un!,” probably not Registeel’s infamous artwork pose, taking up their slumbering poses, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Made of their specific element with their button things on his face.

Kart: The Poke Ball car

Special Move: Ancient Power

Spirit Battle: On Mt. Chimney

Victory Screen: Raising their arms as their button eye things glow.

Losing Screen: Crumbling down.

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors.

Thanks for reading! Next up, Latias takes to the sky!
