FLOWER KINGDOM
In 2023, Super Mario Bros. Wonder came along and changed the game for 2D Mario platformers by . . . injecting LSD straight into the game’s code. The game takes place in the Flower Kingdom, home to talking flowers, the trippy world-altering Wonder flowers, and other strange never-before-seen creatures.
The stage itself won’t be anything special, just a set of platforms with the Wonder game’s aesthetic. Talking flowers will hang out at different areas of the stage and comment when someone passes them. Then, on occasion, a Wonder Flower will appear, causing one of eight effects: 1) the pipes on the stage will start moving around, 2) a Piranha Plant musical will take place, 3) a stampede of bulrushes will flood the stage, 4) the stage will turn dark and all characters will become long, 5) a giant hoppo starts bouncing around the stage, 6) the players all turn into Wubbas, 7) the stage turns into a free-fall section, and 8) Castle Bowser appears in the background.
