Character Sheet: The Buneary Line

BUNEARY/LOPUNNY

Next up, let's cover everyone's favorite line of rabbit Pokemon, Buneary and Lopunny. Everyone's favorite . . . for very specific reasons. They are quite literally based on Playboy bunnies, so I think the fandom sexualization was very much an intentional thing on the part of the designers.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Quick Attack > Headbutt

Side B: Charm

Up B: Double Kick > High Jump Kick

Down B: Defense Curl > Mirror Coat

Final Smash: Healing Wish > Mega Lopunny

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Poses. I'm not going to clarify. Just . . . poses. Buneary might be doing more cute things, like wiping its face, but Lopunny will be posing.

Character Sheet: The Drifloon Line

DRIFLOON/DRIFBLIM

Next up, let's cover the Drifloon line, a line well known for its dark Pokedex entries involving kidnapping children Peter Pan-style. They are based on a basic helium balloons and hot-air balloons respectively, with the first instance of a Ghost/Flying type combo.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Shadow Ball

Side B: Hex > Phantom Force

Up B: Gust

Down B: Payback > Self-Destruct

Final Smash: Taken to the Afterlife

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Drifting around, a child appearing and taking its hand, popping temporarily, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Their coloration on his body

Kart: The Poke Ball car

Special Move: Phantom Force

Spirit Battle: On Distortion World

Victory Screen: Floating off into the sky (maybe with the loser in tow)

Losing Screen: Fainted. Maybe popped.

SHELLOS/GASTRODON

And now, let's cover the Shellos line, a line based on sea slugs, nudibranchs and the like. They have two distinct forms, based on which coast you catch them on, but other than that, there's not much to say. I just think they're neat.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Water Gun

Side B: Mud Slap > Muddy Water

Up B: Body Slam > Ancient Power

Down B: Harden

Final Smash: Earth Power

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Fluttering their frilly feet things, extending out like a slug would, things like that.

Kirby Hat: The tops of their heads

Kart: The Poke Ball car

Special Move: Earth Power

Spirit Battle: On Big Booker Bridge

Victory Screen: You know that floaty dance you always see sea slugs doing? That.

CHERUBI/CHERRIM

Next up, we have a line of Pokemon based on cherries and cherry blossoms respectively, with Cherrim having the unique mechanic of opening up when the sun is out and closing when it's not. Other than that, not a ton to say about them.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Magical Leaf

Side B: Leafage

Up B: Growth > Petal Blizzard

Down B: Morning Sun > Sunny Day (also "turn off Sunny Day," basically it's the switch forms move)

Final Smash: Solar Beam

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Dancing around, flapping its leaves, trying to wake up the second head, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Their leaves

Kart: The Poke Ball car

Special Move: Sunny Day

Spirit Battle: On My Pokemon Ranch

BUIZEL/FLOATZEL

Skipping over this generation's Pikachu clone, we come to a line that really felt like the generation's mascot back when it was coming out. I don't know, I just felt like it was everywhere. Buizel and Floatzel are based on sea weasels (not otters, I guess, even though those basically literally are sea weasels), with floaties like those you'd wear to a pool.

Here's the moveset I came up with for them:

Standard B: Water Gun

Side B: Aqua Jet > Aqua Tail

Up B: Swift > Whirlpool

Down B: Soak

Final Smash: Floatin' Tsunami

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Flicking their tail, adjusting their floaties, floating on their back, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Their floaties

Kart: The Poke Ball car

Special Move: Aqua Tail

Spirit Battle: On Big Booker Bridge

Victory Screen: Toweling off after the battle

Losing Screen: Fainted

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors

COMBEE/VESPIQUEN

And now for our second of two bug lines who both have a unique gender divergence in their evolutions. This time, specifically, it's that the males don't evolve at all, and the females become Vespiquen. This line is based on honeybees, their whole queen-based social structure, and the honeycombs that they create.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Bug Bite > Fell Stinger

Side B: Gust > Fury Cutter

Up B: Struggle Bug > Air Slash

Down B: Sweet Scent > Attack Order

Final Smash: Defend the Hive!

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Buzzing around, doing the waggle dance, eating some honey, things like that.

Kirby Hat: A honeycomb with Kirby's face, arms, and feet.

Kart: The Poke Ball car

Special Move: Attack Order

Spirit Battle: On PokePark

Victory Screen: All the bees buzzing around their hive

Losing Screen: Fainted

Color Swaps: Main, shiny, other general colors. Plus the male version for Combee.

BURMY/WORMADAM/MOTHIM

Next up, let's cover Burmy, Wormadam, and Mothim, yet another line based on bagworms, because that was an animal that needed two Pokemon lines. Though I suppose we did have two axolotl lines in two sequential generations, so whatever. This line has the unique quirk of the females becoming just bigger bagworms, while the males sprout wings and fly. Also Burmy and Wormadam both have three different cloak types, which lend Wormadam three different typings.

Here's the moveset I came up with:

Standard B: Bug Bite

Side B: Tackle > Razor Leaf/Rock Blast/Metal Blast | Psybeam

Up B: String Shot > Bug Buzz | Air Slash

Down B: Protect > Infestation | Poison Powder

Final Smash: Infested Forest

Entrance: Poke Ball

Taunts: Shifting around inside their pods, building their pods, fluttering their wings, things like that.

Kirby Hat: Their cloaks as pajamas, and Mothim's wings.

Kart: The Poke Ball car

Special Move: Infestation

Spirit Battle: On PokePark

Victory Screen: Snuggling up and tucking back into their shells, or flying back to see their Wormadams.

Losing Screen: Fainted

Color Swaps: All three cloaks and shinies, plus two more. Then Mothim's main, shiny, and other general colors.
